I'm looking for pictures of fiberglass hoods bought from Unlimited Fiberglass is Hesperia, CA. They are a well know company and I know have had many bad reviews but from mostly over 10 years ago. Also read stuff saying the quality has improved recently.

Main thing I'm worried about is if the bracing and underside will look clean and original and if the original body stampings on hood will be clean and crisp... Along with general quality and straightness. I dont need it perfect to start with as I plan on having to make minor adjustments fitting it and doing the body work. But I dont want junk either.

The thing is, Unlimited is an hour or so drive from me... so going with them would save me possibly hundreds in shipping and crating cost. They are also cheaper.

I need a bolt on hood and it want it too look original on both sides of hood, underside and top.

The only other company who makes a bolt on hood for my car is Glasstek, which I'm convinced would be the best quality around, but I'm not sure its worth it for $400+ dollars more.

This is for my 1964 Plymouth Fury wagon.

Btw...

Unlimited has 2 options that I might consider:

$299 (bolts in rear, pins in front) or $399 (bolt on with original latch) and I could pick it up.

Glasstek hood is $580 for bolt on and who knows what shipping might be, I'm guessing $250

Los Angeles isn't all that far from Hesperia, maybe you should take a ride and see their craftsmanship firsthand.

I called them a week or so ago to check if I could look at the hood before i bought it. They said that its made to order, so no. I also asked if they took pictures of ones they made in the past, they said no and that I should ask around or look for pictures on forums. They said they only have smaller peices like scoops as samples to look at.

Oh well, I thought that my solution was kinda easy. Keep us posted if you find any info.

Ya thanks, its a good idea and probably wouldnt hurt but its about a 1.5 hour drive each way so if I'm only gonna get to see some scoops before I pay for a full hood I'm not sure if its worth my time and gas. If I'm heading that direction I might check it out.

The other option might be to just order it and then go to pick it up and if its a peice of junk simply refuse it. But that sounds like a hassle too.

I'm hoping to find some pictures or reviews from recently otherwise I may just shell out the extra cash for Glasstek.

I might want front fenders too and glasstek makes glass fenders for the 64 plymouth, but unlimited doesnt. The same manufacturer would probabaly fit the best together. I got some thinking to do...

I installed fiberglass fenders on my 73 Challenger back in 1989. I am sure that the quality has improved, but getting them to fit properly was a difficult task to say the least. I wish you luck.

Evan, I got front fenders and hood from glasstek. Yes the cost a little more but damn worth it. The hood is bolt on type and really have to do nothing as for bodywork. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, I saw some pictures of the 64 dodge hood and fenders on one of your posts. They look nice!

Do you remeber how much the freight shipping charges came out too?

I will try and find the receipt but I was thinking around 300. But they will tell you the price of shipping when you talk to them.
