STOCK means STOCK

Am I the only one from the rust belt to have an engine die at a stop light in the winter from carburetor ice due to having removed the exhaust manifolds in favor of headers? The factory engineers had a lot to think about. Another thing is headers plus a low restriction exhaust system frequently resulted in a too lean A/F ratio in some parts of the curve, which resulted in a lot of us learning how to change jets
Happened to me too. I just took some brakeline and wrapped it around one of the header pipes, and plumbed it to the carb. I'm trying to remember exactly to which port or where, but that was decades and decades ago.

Application.....do I dare jump in ? Why some of the earliest - if we may - were fender well exhaust - be it Mopar - FoMoCo or that other brand.........still for a stock cast iron from the factory - I'd put a Mopar up against an of them all.....first year 1968 340's as an example.....and we excuse those makes that were getting theirs clipped about that time.......

I do agree with most of this, specifically that a lot of is lost in this communication method. Most if not all of us have been taken out of context or someone has gotten offended by misreading our writings. Then of course this is the occasion word omission such "not" making a sentence come out the reverse of what we intended. In business, I would tell my staff the following "read what you wrote at least twice before hitting the send button". I highly encouraged them to take a break before hitting the send button as well because in our heads we think we wrote one thing when in fact we didn't.

As to the red X thing, I see that a bit differently; it just means someone disagrees with a statement, does not necessarily require an explanation and many times an offered explanation will only serve to further a "debate" when it is not necessarily needed. I understand that it can feel like a punk move, but I will be honest and say that I have done it and had it done to me, but I don't take offense to it.

As to the subject of this thread, I remain a bit confused by it to be honest (which I posted earlier).
Not car related but, I like your SF Crest. I’m retired out of C/1/10 in Böblingen Germany. Nous Défions!!

Watch Nick's Garage on Youtube stock HP manifolds vs Headers. Headers giver around 28 horse greater. Headers were available in 1969 and 70 as aftermarket products by Hooker and others

I love Nicks Garage. Always interesting to see what works on the Dyno and what doesn’t. I also love Freiburger and Dolsich on Engine masters.

Look how that trouble maker Robert brought people together. I’d like to personally nominate him as a candidate for president. Well done my man!! I’ve been meaning to put my friend’s ‘71 Super Bee stories in its own post. I would think there’s hundreds of tales of “LOOK PAL.... PUT UP OR SHUT UP!”

dont let it get to you, iron sharpens iron. Stock means stock and yes we all get into it with members here. Some people here know their stuff and other well are full of BS. I dont know it all and never will but enjoy the knowledge there is on this site. I have been proven wrong more then once but all in all I want to believe it was to give me knowledge and not someone just being an asshole. And the butt hole probably doesnt even own a Mopar.
Great comment. Thanks. I do all my own work and have posted what I have run into. I have spent from 1976 to 2006 in Germany and have had MOPARs the complete time. So many times I must work an issue without help. No computers in the early days. I have discovered and fixed so much during that time. So i try to inform people of what i have run into. I hope my posts help someone now or in the future.

Welcome back! Maybe you'll fare better this time.
:hifu:
Thanks. I do not pretend to know so much. I only put out things that i have run into. Many times we run into things that are not in a trouble shooting book or on the computer. I have had NO formal training in Automotive. I have learned from the school of hard knocks. But so much is common since on older cars.

Thank goodness your back Robert, I almost thought writing in your name for President of the USA today might have been premature.
Anyways I’m a proud shade tree mechanic too. Here’s my homemade stock Mopar battery that’s in my ‘68 Sport Satellite convertible. Battery painted black, letters hand applied and then clear coat. First 2 pictures show a reproduction one, then last 3 photos are of mine.

I have been posting some things I have run into to help other MOPAR members that may run into the same things. I get some disagreements on some of my posts. I find it strange. I posted that STOCK HP exhaust manifolds were designed to give max HP and many times are better then headers. The Disagree postings started. I mentioned STOCK engines not built. Also, I ask all the know everything members to think how many HEADERS were available in 1969, 1970 and must I continue? So I will not post any more things that I have run into. I do not have the knowledge as so many young people have.

The Engineers did extensive testing for maximum performance regarding factory exhaust manifolds,
