Just got engine back from machine shop. It is a 68 440 h . I used 9.7 forged pistons. The gtx has a 3.23 rear going to run 27 inch tire. Comp cams sent the machine shop the HE268 i thought we were going with the XE268. Is it going to be worth changing out to the xe or just stay with th HE. Running stock converter for 68 Gtx. Running stock hp manifolds

I'm certainly no cam authority-

but I believe the lobes are different, with the XE having more aggressive ramps and being designed for the wider diameter Mopar lifter.

Do you have a part or grind number? I went with a 268AH-10 (21-305-4), but I was looking for something very close to the originally installed cam. Pretty much the same setup you're running. 440/727/3.23/stock converter.

The XE is noisier and a little rowdier in a 440. A lot more exhaust duration if you are running manifolds. The XE is their hot 268 street cam.

Mike, if the XE cam is the XE268H-10, that uses the 3 bolt cam sprocket. The HE is a single bolt. Also, the intake and exhaust lift is about .167" and .171" higher than mine, respectively. Not sure if that would cause any clearance issues with your setup or not. The HE cam seems to be a good stick for street cruisers with around 9.5 pistons. Hope this helps.

A pox on both of them
one is an old grind which is easy on the springs but low lift for the duration
the other closes the valves way too fast which is why they are noisy and hard on parts
The vooddoo 268 designed by the same guy years later with Ultradyne in between is a much better grind
comp has no HL in the 268 class - HL series are more modern lobes but no 268- 275 is shortest
comps makes nothing for mopar less than 275
the chevy voodoo 268 makes 25 more hp than the comp chevy 268 and is quieter
the lunati voodoo mopar 268 is better than the chevy version which is also available from lunati
but why?

I’d need to know a little more info before I could really comment.

What are the heads and quench situation?

What rocker gear will be used?

Are the springs already selected?
If so, what are they..... and set up at what pressure/height?

My initial thoughts are...... a 268-110 cam is kinda small for a 9.7:1 440 with a tight converter...... especially if there isn’t any quench.

Agree with PRH
I could do it with tight quench or really good gas
