I have some friends entering a car in the Detroit Autorama this year, and was looking for some feedback from those of you who have, or are attending the show. I was wondering how big of a show it is, need 1 or more days to view it, local parking, and where, and just the area holding the show, as far as restaurants, bars, ease of getting around ? I have a room booked, but am considering just doing a day trip instead. Any, and all feedback is appreciated, Thanks...

Good size show. Lots to see. Several guest appearances over the 2 days. My buddies and I do a day trip Friday but we only have an hour and half drive. Never been on Saturday but hear there’s a lot of people. What cars are your friends entering?

They've been working on a custom build for several years now, and are entered for the Show's Top Award. Due to the rules governing this, I can't go into any details on the vehicle, but can say it's an Awesome Effort !

Ah ok. Can you give the peoples names or what kind of vehicle to look for? I assume you’re referring to the Riddler Award, that’s sweet, good luck

I can let you know when the doors open on 3/28. I haven't seen it myself since the Holidays, when I visited their shop, so I'm anxious to get there...

Pretty good size show. Fills pretty much the whole TCF center. There is also a basement area of rat rod type stuff. I work downtown so I go Friday afternoon when it opens - not too busy then or early in the morning over the weekend. Gets pretty busy by noon on the weekend. Parking on the roof of the TCF center or a couple of garages on the north side of the building. Surface lots beyond that but make sure they don't block you in. Don't use a meter if you are more than 2 hours, since they watch them like a hawk. Restaurants close to the TCF center are not that many, but there are more farther east and north of it. Best to walk and yes it is safe. You can take the people mover to cut the walking if you need. It stops right in the TCF center. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck and have fun.

The boys are working hard on the car. I stopped by today and Kathy met me at the door and said that they had to have the car ready by Tuesday so they were not seeing anyone. I’m the same as you and haven’t seen the car in a while but I agree “it’s a killer”.

I received the news this morning, my Friends build will not be there, due to build issues, and out of time to make it. I guess I won't need to fight the weather to get to Detroit this weekend...

When to the show today. Unfortunately I missed meeting Don (he had gone to dinner before we made found his car), but I did see his great Charger. Super nice, great work Don.

a couple non-mopar that I really liked. Really like the 59-60 El Camino's and Impala's.

My parents had a Chevy Laguna for a couple years. I really LIKE chevy's restomod/concept version.

Ridler Award winner. I meant to post pics of the great 8 cars this past weekend but forgot (was busy too). I’ll get them later

That was a very cool show, alot of incredible rides there, i was there all weekend i didn't get a chance to take many pics anything after the move in. was super busy, talked to alot of people there, great crowd. sorry to hear your buddy didn't make Vandan, there's always next year!

Is it my imagination or did that red Willys pickup get a cab stretch? Love the old Willys, Anglia, Austin gassers !
Edit: is that Ed "kookie" Burns' t-bucket behind Ivo's, or Norm Grabowskis'? Or are they the same car?
