AMD discontinuing Mopar parts

First thing is that AMD sheetmetal is not made in China, it is made in Taiwan. The second thing is that the Mopar stuff is not profitable. The line has yet to cover the tooling costs overall. So get your parts that you need sooner than later. The day will come when they no longer offer the parts that don't sell well. They only make the Mopar stuff because they are Mopar guys, and they knew that there were no decent aftermarket sheetmetal parts for them. Selling the Ford and GM parts has afforded them the luxury to be able to produce the Mopar parts they have made to date. They are in business to make a profit, and when something that they produce is not profitable they will not be able to make it indefinitely. The day will come when you see the stuff we can easily buy aftermarket now, trade hands like NOS parts do now. My advice is to get what you think you will need for future use and put it on the shelf.

The "discontinued" parts have just been packaged and shipped from Wuhan, China you should be getting them shortly. "Handle with care" is for you NOT the parts...

If you make enough off the parts that sell then you can break even on the parts that don’t. That being said the majority of companies are bottom line not so much a ‘service’ to the hobby. My sister ran a restaurant, she always said you had to give away something to get the crowd in the door.
Like Sheetz, give away the gas but that coffee and sandwich will cost ya

AMD has stepped up for the Mopar community, knowing that the Mopar parts do not have the sales potential of the Ford and GM parts. I would call that doing a "service " to the hobby. People who think otherwise were probably not involved in the Mopar hobby when there was no aftermarket support for them. Mustangs and Camaros were the catalog built cars, there was nothing for Mopars available back when I got into the hobby, and no one thought that they would ever be worth any money,or had collector value. We built them because they were fast and cool, nothing more.

having sale on Ford and Chevy parts , just not Mopar .

Man, that is a long list of discontinued parts. Just going to make these cars as parts even more expensive than they already are.

AMD is moving to a new facility, it is probably cheaper to discount parts and ship them out, than it is to move them.
This makes perfect sense.
And depending on their fiscal year if they sell the stuff it doesn't have to be inventoried nor do they hav3 to pay tax on it.
Not to mention the potential for damage.

Well, yes but......

..that would apply across the whole line, not just (mostly) A body stuff. Besides, why say it's "discontinued" ? If you're having a moving sale, have a moving sale.

AMD already has made the move. They were into the new building at the end of December and a large percentage moved by the first of January.

As in any business, retailers have to evaluate what is moving and what merits the investment to keep it on the shelf. All of us have our own ideals on what should be kept or what is worth doing. But AMD or any business in this day that is operating to stay afloat has to be aware of market trends and with a computer and a spreadsheet, the black and white numbers will support the decisions.

Where did they move to?

I guess ya didn't notice the posts stating Ferd and Chebby stuff was on sale also?

AMD has moved approximately 20 miles Northeast of the original location.

Well just in case they don't come back out with some sheet metal, I went ahead and contacted Steven's Performance and asked what was up. Since I had bought from Ted and Jackie a few times, they hooked me up big time. Not only were they able to get me a fair price for the items I needed, they are dropping off at a show for me to pickup. So I got two 1972 Roadrunner Quarter panels for the price of one and saved a bunch on shipping too! Not sure if that deal is the same for everyone, but it might be worth calling for pricing and show delivery if they want to save some money before remaining stock is gone. If the price in the link does not show a discount, it is because stock has exhausted and will not be replaced. AMD has gone a long ways to help out the MOPAR community and glad that what ever they offered, even if for a short period. 30 years of finding, trading, flipping, pulling/removing parts off cars, hauling to and from shows can be a chore and pain is the neck. Was happy to get Mopar power bulge hoods new instead of buying used pieces (if you could find them) and having to spend more money to make the pieces nice. If you can buy for your project and save it, do it. Those parts may never be back in stock again.

No, I saw them. My point was if AMD did not want to have to "move" the inventory, the sale would extend across all of their products. I only mentioned A bodies because that was the majority of what has been discontinued as far as Mopars go.

We just received our AMD order today, it was a large order. Two full oversized pallets! All the parts look great, and there was no damage to any of our parts. I ordered the 71 Charger Ramcharger hood, and it is truly amazing! I would like to publicly thank Gary and Pam Bieneke for loaning their Ramcharger hood to AMD to make this hood possible, and AMD for making such a nice part!
