Correct, that's what I was suggesting, to use my style base with his lid, pending the same filter can be used.

The base on the left has a very pronounced bump setting it lower on the carb. I think you have the one on the right! You should be very close to the coil...maybe 1/4" . Yours looks closer to 1/2". Maybe a mix and match?
I think due to the dual snorkels that you have a 67 GTX air cleaner. It would depend on the build date of your car as to if they may have used a 67 air cleaner on it. I ran into this on a 68 Barracuda which in my opinion had a 67 air cleaner on it. This was a 20K mile original car with a very early build date. I got the car from the second owner and he said it was original to the car so I used it because I actually liked it better.
Your question here with the pictures is that this repost of your picture looks correct to me for a 67 piece. I don't know about a 68 base for your car. I personally have never two seen different heights in the dual snorkel tops, and I can put at least 4 of them side by side. Granted they are all original 67 GTX pieces.
I have both air cleaners, but have many more 67 GTX'S than 68-70 cars. If you want what most including me think is correct for your car we can work out a swap.
He would just have to measure the inside diameter of his filter.
