Maybe a more general question but here it goes:

Does the Holley 4150 (with a manual choke) operate a high speed idle cam or is that cam only for the bimetallic electric choke set up?

You can, and should, have a fast idle cam. If your carb doesn't have one, you can install one.

Thanks Rob. Do you know were I can find an exploded view of the assembly? Washers clips etc. The manual does not show it that I can find.

Let me know what you need. I’ve literally got boxes of that choke stuff already replated. (Cheap)

I have a holley with a manual choke. I removed the choke blade because 3 pumps and waaaa laaa it fires and runs good. I use the choke mechanism though to use the fast idle feature when its cold out and needs it. I simply reach under flip it quick, let it run that way for a few minutes and then reach under hood flip it down quick and off I go. And before anyone says wow that takes too long..... if you are worried about that 35 seconds and popping the hood, you probably should take the neon to the store or ice cream instead hahaha!

Thats the problem I don’t know what I need other than the cam. I don’t have an assembly drawing or any reference. When I got the carb it was already removed. Do you have any pictures or drawings showing what tbe assembly includes?

I run a manual choke also.... prolly got some pics on the home computer if you can wait till tomorrow

You can buy everything you need from holley. Part number 45-225. Check application to be sure. Summit has them.

Ok I think I actually have the circuit but don’t see how it works as set up on my carb. The spring looks like its in the wrong direction possibly? As the spring is holding the can back not forward. And the choke appears to push the cam back. So when off choke or on there is no change to the cam position. This can’t be set up correctly.

All the Holleys I have seen with a manual choke have a fast idle cam but it don't have normal steps on it as it just ramps up. So when you pull the choke cable out you don't have to put your foot on the gas to set the choke like an auto choke. It will ramp the idle speed up when you pull the choke cable out. Its just not steps on the cam it gradually just pushes on the fast idle screw and raises the idle. I just put one on my buddies car last year as I had the whole setup laying around but it was my last one. As said you should be able to buy the setup. Ron

Thanks Ron I believe what I have is the smooth cam fast idle set up but it does not engage when I pull the choke out. So I am trying to figure out why. Can you confirm that what I have in the pictures I took is complete and set up correctly? To me the fast idle cam is *** backwards as the spring tension is opposite like the cam is in wrong. The choke does not engage the cam at all. Adjustment maybe?

I agree on the ramps not steps, mines the same way

The arm with the screw through it looks like it is the long version. The short is probably what you need. Long and short refers to the length from the 90* bend the the center of the screw. If it was shorter would it contact the cam?

Thanks I will check asap.

The pin that is sticking out of the cam and control lever assembly has to fit underneath the lever you can see in the crescent shaped slot. If it goes above it, it will not work. The choke is spring loaded closed as it sits in the picture. To put it together properly you have to fight the spring tension.

My spring tension seems to be be in the direction of pushing the high speed idle adjuster towards the back of the car. This looks to be in the same direction as the cam would want to push it as the choke in engaged. Seems backwards to me as I originally indicated. So the choke cam never engages the fast idle linkage!

Should moving the high speed idle linkage move the main throttle linkage at all off its idle point as it comes on?

I did not see the spring in your picture above and wonder if mine is not correct and needs to be set up differently. Here is a shot of mine.
