Hey all, it's time to get the bumpers from my GTX in to get re-plated, so I'm looking for updated suggestions on good chrome platers. I looked back through some old posts here and it looks like Tri-City Plating is a popular suggestion. Has anyone had any work done from them recently that can give an update on their quality? I'm looking for high end work, not production line quality. I live in the Chicagoland area so something around here would be great but, I don't know that there's any good ones left around here, it seems they've all gone out of business. If I have to ship somewhere I'm not opposed to doing that, it just adds cost. Anyone have any suggestions?

Pauls chrome does nice high end work. They are in Erie PA area.

Custom chrome plating in Grafton Ohio.
Not cheap, but very very good

North Star. Brainerd Mn does very good work and show quality. They have done some for me. They will also fix and streighten bumpers.

In the last 20 years I have had over 50 bumpers done by Tri-City Plating. The only ones that were ever sent back were by a customer with a 66 Vette. I couldn't see anything wrong so I told him to take my marker and mark the defects. He did but me nor anyone else in the shop could see them even with the marks. We sent them back anyway and he was satisfied 3 weeks later. There was no charge for anything on the return. I used another chrome shop in north Alabama before I found Tri-City for a 68 RR and was disappointed to say the least and they would do nothing about it. This shop at the time was still $150 higher than Tri-City. I have seen some work by Bumper Boyz before at the Nats in Columbus and just laughed because quality products were right across the aisle at Tri-City. To answer your question the last pair of bumpers I sent to them was about a year ago still great quality IMO.

Tri-City did mine and they look great.
I read an older thread from when you were getting ready to do yours, do you remember when you got yours done? Still no issues? I'm guessing that with the amount of bumpers that Jerry Hall has had done by them, that if they had intermittent quality issues or something along those lines, he would have run into it by now, so that's a good sign.

They also give a lifetime warranty to you as the purchaser of their service. I have never had to send one back for any chrome related issue. Also straightening is included in the price.

I had Quality Plating in Sterling Ill. do my bumpers on my 64. Could not be happier with the outcome. He (well when mine were done a couple of years ago ) still chromed with hexavent (sic) chrome. It's more durable than trivent(sic) which is the environmentally proceedure nowadays. you may want to confirm he still does it that way. Quick turn around, easy to work with plus its driving distance for you.

Yes, Sterling's not a bad drive for me. Thanks.

I can look back on receipt, but I believe it was Winter/Spring of 2017 and no problems. I liked how they took time to make the backsides of bumpers look factory also. They have a lot of bumpers in stock that have already been chromed, but I opted to get my originals done and it took them around 3 weeks to complete.

The car is down for a nut and bolt resto, so 3 weeks is nothing.

Tri-City does nice work... The best? No.. But very very nice & the price is good...

If you insist on the finest chrome around I know a guy here in town who had his bumpers on his C300 done by a shop in Southern California, the bumpers are stunning... But they were 5K apiece... If you want contact info LMK...

For 5K I can have 20+ bumpers done by Tri-City.

I can't pay 5K to have the bumpers chromed, but if you could give me the contact info I could call and see if they have a really good but cheaper option. Thanks
