I'm guessing it's pretty safe to assume that a lot of fbbo members are middle aged (or older) and if you were a kid in the 60's or 70's and could identify practically any car on the road without hesitation, you probably already had it planned out what car you wanted once you got your license, or soon after. For me it was either a '71 Demon or Duster 340. What did I end up driving for the last 35 years? All B bodies! What was your childhood dream car, whether you eventually owned one or not?

Wanted a 1969 Hemi Roadrunner. Ordered but a Hemi Superbee showed up and took it. Sold in 1978 to buy a house. Have been looking for that Superbee for the last 20 years...

First two vehicles I wanted as a kid....'69 Charger & Dodge A100 truck.

Already bought, restored & sold the Charger many years ago.
Still have the A100. :D

The GTX I had was a car I fell in love with as a teenager....

and my '70 RR was a car that just happened along after the Charger was sold....

Same location for both photos....22 years apart. :)

70 superbird and 68 charger R/T. Couldn't afford either so built a SB tribute and I am building a 68 charger R/T tribute right now.

Mid 60's Super Stock car. Working on 2 of them now...

I graduated from a 53 Willys Aero Eagle 2dr hardtop to a 67 GTX that was at 15 years old. From that time I cannot really remember them all. I guess my prize cars were a Mangusta DeTomaso. A couple Panteras, after losing my licence in a short period of time..it was back to the Mopars. :D.

That’s an easy one. I’m 56, and when I was a kid of 6 years old, my Dad came home with this 70 Roadrunner, 440/6 4 speed car. In my neighborhood, this car was more popular than Jennifer Bates, and every Dad and kid from our neighborhood loved this car. It left an indelible mark on lots of people, myself and my older brother included. I’ve always wanted a 70RR of my own, and so last April my dream was finally realized. Best part of owning my car is that it came through the same dealership as my Dads car, and since his car has not surfaced in almost 50 years, I guess I’ll have to settle for mine! JK, I love this car, and it was worth the wait.

Yep, correct, as a kid I could ID any car (American) and used to have an affinity for Mopars when I was knee-high despite my folks not owning any. My uncle had a '57 Desoto and another had a '58 Dodge I just thought were so cool. Could a been the fins and the push button tranny's that caught my attention and the exhaust sound they had. I liked many cars though and my folks had some cool cars late 50's T-Birds, a '63 GP, and a '65 GTO. My brother went nuts on GTO's and a '67 GTO vert was my 1st car. Still I always got drooly over Mopars and my older cousin had a '64 Polara 426/4sp and a '64 Sport Fury I liked (reason why I have had my '63 Plymouth for over 25 years). When the later 60's came along wow, so many cool Mopars - their body styles were just kick-*** and when 1970 rolled around just as I was getting my license the 'rapid transit system' was bigger kick yet. How I remember seeing those cars on the streets under the street lights roll through our town. My 2nd car was a '70 Cuda vert 383/4sp...ahh so friggin wish I still had!

There's still a couple I haven't had already
room especially & funds are not there at the moment,
to take on another project

I've had most of what I wanted, lots/most of them B-bodies

Real LO23 & BO29 would be my bucket list cars, also way expensive
I had a BO29 car, for a very short time, fixed & resold
I wish I'd have kept

69 Charger Daytona pref. a 4 speed car
70 Superbird pref. a 4 speed car

63-64 Max Wedge cars, pref. a real racecars

I still want a 68 GTS 383 4 speed Dart, convert. even better
I still want a 68 Formula S 383 4 speed Barracuda
I still want a 70 `cuda 440-6
or a 70 `cuda grand coupe 383 even, like my buddy Jeff had

a couple of the newer MoPars/Ram/Jeep etc. too
Ram Rebel 1500 TRX 4x4
or SRT/Hellcat or Trailhawk Grand Cherokee
or a SRT Demon
or any DragPak car, the 7 ltr 426 Hemi version pref.
or Hellcat before the redeyes/wide-body & fender flares
or a Viper ACR
or a Viper 98 GTS coupe

among a shitload of other brand -x cars I'd still love to own too

quite a bucket list. Dang.

I'm 55 and I was a Chevy guy as a teenager, but I always dreamed of being able to own my Grandfather's Coronet (my Uncle bought it new). I used to sit in the steps to the garage and dream.

Fast forward about 25 years ago. I asked if I could buy the car. He gave me an offer that I couldn't refused. Car sat for two years un-driven. Put an new battery in it and did a general tune-up and drove the car from PA back to CA.

I used to look forward to each week when the new auto locator magazine was put out just to page through (read that drool over) all the Mopar musclecars that were for sale. That was the early 80's.

Lime green 70 Superbird. Used to drool over one that sat in the local Chrysler/Plymouth dealership front window for 3 years.
Thought about it just the other day. Doubt if I would buy one today, why ruin a dream..

'67 GTX and '68 Charger R/T (favorite), but ended up driving a '71 Satellite (slightly modified) throughout the 1970's.

I picked up my '70 Charger 500 in 1985 after many years of searching for a big block Mopar. Short funny story: I had totally given up on finding a '68 Charger when I received a call about my current '70 Charger 500. I didn't want a blue car, I didn't want a vinyl top, and I had to have a 440 car. My '70 Charger is blue with a black vinyl top and it has a 383 magnum. I bought it when I saw it had a factory 4 speed, power windows, Tic Toc Tach, black crinkle gauge panel, and 77,000 miles. I really like B5 blue now. Thankfully, it has no stripes and no wing. :D
p.s. I like the bumblebee stripes on the '68 Charger R/T.

1966, working in the auto service center of Montgomery Wards in St Paul, MN. I was dealing with tire, battery, etc. stock plus lawn and garden stuff. When it was slow in the stock room I'd sneak into the garage and see if the mechanics would let me help with tire changes and what not. One guy was cool about it (even though they weren't supposed to let us work there). He had a yellow 62 Savoy. 413 with A/T. At the end of the night when they'd close everything up he'd start that thing up and burn the back tires on the way out of the parking lot. He had chrome reverse rims on the front. Back then most of us couldn't afford all 4 wheels, so the fronts would do.

I was driving a 55 Chevy with a 235 6 cylinder in it. Always felt let down getting into that one after watching him leave.

Anyway, I now have a yellow 62 Savoy in the garage, painted but still going back together. Mine will be a 4 speed. A 413 is on a stand ready to go. Took me long enough!

I was lucky enough to have my dream car as a 16 year old in 1979 - FK5 with black interior 440 6brl 4 speed Road Runner - it had bucket seats and a console but manual steering and brakes. Found it for $650 in the Nickel Ads. Had a lot of "firsts" in that car in high school.
I wish I could have it back but after I get a reckless driving ticket and had to sell it, it was stolen from the guy that I sold it to, used in a convenience store robbery and rolled during the police chase. A friend of mine drove tow truck and I got a chance to visit it one last time at the impound yard. I still have the Roadrunner head button out of the steering wheel.

There was this perfect low mileage Alpine white 69 Charger 500
Hemi 4 speed dana :blah::blah::blah:, Magnum 500's
& 60's rear & 70's front raised white letter Polyglass bias ply tires
with black bucket seat no consloe interior,
in Concord Ca. when I was growing up,
when I was visiting my step father & mother...
I'd drive by it almost daily, going to my buddy Jeff's house,
in the summers, it sat in some older gentleman's driveway
(I was 16-17-ish, 1975-1976-ish & he was like 35)
I was completely amazed it wasn't tucked away in his garage, even...

I can still see that car today in my mind

I wanted that car so bad,
even then @ $5000 it was out of my range
started at $1.65 hr working at a Shell station
I had paid $350 for my 68 Charger R/T that was near perfect...
In summer of 1974 I was 15 y/o...

Growing up in New Zealand as I did, this was the first car that I fell in love with. An E49 Valiant Charger. Saw it racing at Bathhurst in Australia when I was a young fella. Always wanted one, never got one unfortunately.

Wages were quite different back then. Something like 5 bucks a hour if that. Times have changed . 5000 was alot of money back then.
