Fuel or spark, scratching my head on tuning out a stumble.

Back from the grave. So, an update I could never get a HEI to work. Put on a first GEN pertronix and it works beautifully. I have been thinking a lot about this lately, trying to determine why HEI would start and idle so beautifully but not rev. Now I am wondering, could it be my old style (2nd fld grounded to case) alternator and transistorized vr? The charging system works perfectly but I have read warnings that a transistorized VR will not play well with electronic ignitions.

Have any of you gotten HEI working with an original style 60s alternator and VR?

I'm about to...vr706 was ordered...electronic distributor and orange box going in tomorrow. Still sporting a round back 1969 single field alternator.
