Haven’t seen any threads about it - but let’s see some of your guys mismatched wheel combos! I think it’s a look that seldomly done. I don’t see much nowadays but I see it a lot more commonly back in the day. Especially a young kid in the 80s who may be on a budget and can’t afford a full set of wheels.

The look can be hard to pull off - but when it’s pulled off correct, can look awesome.

I don't know about the 80's in particular, but the old drag race look. For the lack of a better picture here goes.

My favorite is Cragars S/Ss in front and Aluminum slots in the rear.
I came here to post Keystone Klassics in front with slots in the rear. Cragar is nice too.
I'll see if I can dig up some pics.

I believe those are Torque Thrust but they're still cool!

Favorite was was Motown Missile combo, this isn't fav and not an obvious mismatch. There was the same gold wheel on front but back wheel was gold and had a ridge around slots. Think they were Gold ET 3's.

There was a black and white picture in the Car Craft "Cruisin' USA" series of the early 80's that showed a 71 340 Duster with mismatched wheels. I thought it was the best look!

I like the Rocket Launcher gasser style front wheel, and since there is no matching rear available, i have to have a mismatched set. I use one of two styles of centerlines, autodrag or prostock, or a set of tt2s. On my 62 i occasionally run the mag/steelie combo.

My ride back in the 80's. 340 in that beast! What a car for a 17 year old!

Thanks VC for uploading your pic of the steel wheels.
I think that your car and wheels look great.
Love the looks of your car.
I have tried more then once to upload some pics but I have the worst luck for doing that,,
don't know why but they just don't seem to wanna stick for me.
However , , I will keep tryin .. eventually I will get it.

When I think of mismatched wheels, I think of Funny Cars and Top Fuel Dragsters. Many or most had little spoked type on front with a variety of rear Monsters. Way back many had slots in back and similar Halibrand type slots with the lip like in post #8 above. I agree with Fran about the Motown Missle; that thing always tripped my trigger!

Looking for a different set of sbp mags for the front, but this will do for now.

Now that car is HOT. That’s the great look I had in my head. What size are those rear wheels? And are those keystones 15”?
Thanks!
Rear wheels are wheel vintiques 15” by 8”.
The rear tires are Coker pro trac reproduction bias ply. 275 60 15
The fronts are 15” by 6” magnum 500’s with the Coker front runners.
