So what’s the latest info on ordering a 2020 Drag Pak & delivery date of the car. All I’m hearing is rumors but I have heard from several sources/racers that their local dealer has no ordering info on the car yet. Anybody know anything concrete on this. Several people have posted they’d like to order one.

Oh hell, I was looking at articles about it must have snagged the wrong link. From what I read they are only making 50 drag pack challengers this time around.

allegedly that 354cid Supercharged Hemi
it says; makes in the neighborhood of 1500hp, not officially rated
7.50 chassis cert., previous years sold for $110,000
no actual current HP rating or no actual current sale price
in the article below from Nov. 6th 2019, "latest I found quickly anyway"
(a 9" Ford -lighter- instead of a Dana-60, that's sacrilege  )

They need to offer the bigger 426cid (crate is only 1000hp) Hellephant :bananadance:
in a higher HP rating for the Drag Pak, like 1800hp+,
no replacement for displacement
like the rest of the brand x Factory Stock competitors will come out with :poke:

And besides the 9" Ford rear, the previous model years were equipped with T400 transmissions. They work.

And I'm not going to lie. If I had the opportunity to buy one I would sneak it on the street :)

oh If I had one I'd drive it around my little rural community

Yep just 50. Mainly need the Supercharged car for the NHRA FSS class. Ford & Chevy released a new & updated car for 2019 & the 15 DP struggled to keep up. The 2020 has all the new tricks

If I was only 30 years younger..............

Yes in the FSS class the Cobra Jet, COPO Camaro & Drag Pak all are mandated to use the 9 inch Ford style rear & a SFI TH400. and chassis certified to 7.50. These still quite a few older Drag Paks that have never been down the track. These are supercharged cars. 1400 plus horse power.

I am and have always been a fan of the Dana 60.
While smaller, at 9", the Ford based 9" ring and pinion setup is every bit as strong, due to design.
I forget the specifics, but it has to do with how the pinion gear is supported IIRC.
I do have a Quick Performance Ford based reinforced 9" in the GTO, and I am NEVER going to worry about it breaking.

As I recall the 9" Ford had several advantages:
Lighter housing & overall weight
Better pinion bearing support(with proper bearing combinations & sizes)

Disadvantage
Higher friction hypoid angle
Need all top quality components

Would love to hear what the Pro's say is the advantages of the TH400. Not real obvious to me.

It’s the only 3 speed with a SFI rated case to this level. No other reason. Just safety b

As for the rear the word is the 9 inch takes less horsepower. So that’s why it’s the mandated rear for FSS only.

It ought to take more, the 9 inch has more friction due to the higher wipe angles. 9 inch rears need oil coolers at Nascar where 8 3/4 didn't.

These aren’t rear Ford rears. Aftermarket. Kinda like Keith Black Hemi blocks. Much improved over Stock Ford rears. I’m pretty sure the Indy Hemi SS/AH cars are all using 9’inch aftermarket rears because one qualified last year with a D60 & leaf spring & it was news. 70’s technology vs today’s. He was slow compared to top qualifiers

That's the info I got from my builder "back in the day", he was a die hard Ford guy. He & his buddy built a full out MP Mustang & explained the advantages & dis-advantages of the 9". Of course they need to start the "big" version, nodular or aluminum pumpkin, lite spool, pro gears, back brace, premium aftermarket axles, etc. Dana, good axles, good gears, good Power Lok or spool, good to go. Dana is heavy.
