Ok so I picked up a new trunk seal for the bee and have laid it in place with clips and it comes up a bit short. I was thinking that it should be installed completely relaxed so is this gasket too short or am I’m wrong in thinking it needs to be installed completely relaxed?

Wouldn't take much pulling to give her an extra inch.. :D

I had plenty left over to cut off when I did mine, almost 2 feet.

All the ones I’ve installed were long and had to trimmed. You’ll need to start glueing that one in and stretching at the same time. Not sure if some B’s have more perimeter than others. What brand is that?

Funny you should say that my wife said exactly the same thing lol:thumbsup:

All the ones I have installed have had a foot or so left to be trimmed.
My guess is you were shorted (no pun intended).
If you stretch it, do it on the bottom only just to close the gap. The water is going down from that point anyway. If you stretch it all the way around you may run into some leakage up top.
Good luck.

Well the one that was on it someone had stretched it to make it fit and it wouldn’t stay glued down on the driver side corner. So I thought I would buy a new one to install it correctly but it seems a bit short I did stretch it a bit more than I would like to get it that close to butting up.
I’m not sure who made the seal but I got it from a vendor on here that cuts them and trims the inside lip from the part that turns the back corners and goes across the tail panel.

Is it possible that someone had cut it prior to you getting it? A "returned" gasket perhaps.
I think that you should be able to pickup an inch in the straight-away's, but it should have came long. Return it and get the correct length.
I've done two and had to trim both...bought mine from Jim at Detroit Muscle, he stands behind everything.

Do the ones that Detroit Muscle sell have the inner lip that covers the edge of the trunk lip?

They're OEM design...I believe. Call him and ask, I'm sure he'll tell you

Yep, Jim is a good guy. I have purchased several items from DMT, all good stuff.
When you call them a person actually picks up the phone. Typically Jim.
