Profiteering from a Pandemic?

I have no problem with this for one simple reason. MANY small businesses buy in bulk at Costco for the sole purpose of resale. Likewise contractors buy a lot of products for resale as well. Is that "profiteering"? Oh wait, that's "different" right? Uh-uh ... same thing. Just your perception has changed. Furthermore, it was made quit clear that their profit is minimal. Hey, you have to make something for your trouble. Also consider that not everyone has the time, ability or membership to shop at Costco. I applaud these people for helping out others.

Yeah - maggots is a good descript; another form of looting. All the worst to those fucks.

Helping?? I don't think so. There is a big difference between running a business and working for a profit compared to screwing someone for money just because they are vulnerable...

Profiteering refers to people taking advantage of others during a crisis. For example, when 9/11 happened I was working 2nd shift. So, I got up in the afternoon and headed for work. I was driving my '73 Charger at the time so I needed gas. Well, there were gas lines. Very odd, I thought. Finally found a store without a line. I asked the clerk what was the deal about gas lines and he said something about the refinery in Tulsa being closed.
At any rate, one of the owners of a convienence store jacked up the price of gasoline to take advantage of the run on gasoline and was subsequently prosecuted for profiteering.

You and I see things quite differently sometimes, but I totally agree with you on this.
Jerry, I saw the same behavior of people after Hurricane Sandy. What bothered me more was after 9-11. When the first plane hit I was in the middle of the harbor with a co worker on our way to the Brooklyn Navy Yard. When we got to Manhattan the second plane hit. Needless to say we were stuck in South Ferry Terminal until close to ten at night. We helped people all day and later on were setting up a boat to take bodies back to a temporary morgue on SI. My supervisor never tried to see if we were alright, he didn't give a ****, never did.
Nobody thought to send anything over to eat or drink or see if we needed help or anything all day and evening. When I got back to the island the Red Cross were there serving food. Food vendors sent down drinks and sandwiches. Gloves, respirators, safety equipment were everywhere. Later on I saw greed that made me want to vomit
My boss was running around like the primna donna asshole he was. I was famished, exhausted, covered in dust, my hair my mouth up my nose. I wanted to punch somebody in the face.
That day and night opened my eyes to what a waste of life some people can be and changed my attitude forever and trust me while yes we disagree on a host of issues , id bet my last dollar whats important in life, our core values and principles we and others here have are all in alignment with each other.
Stay safe and be well to you and all FBBO members

Yeah, they're "helping" by charging $80 for a $20 pack of TP and preying on peoples' fears...
My perception is fine, thanks. Gouging is gouging.
Leeches of society.

My daughter just called to ask me a question. Since I'm in trucking, she wanted to know if something was going on in trucking since all the stores were almost completely sold out of everything.

Check Ebay for toilet paper, it will blow your mind.
I typed in "toilet paper" on Amazon and a laughing emoji popped up saying "you're kidding, right?"
