1 have a 66 Belvedere and have the 3 speed wiper motor and I have set wipers to right position on windshield and work . But when I go to park position the wiper motor rotates the other way and wipers go way lower slapping the windshield molding on car- any ideas how to fix or the issue thanks

To clarify, while running in normal mode, they have a normal sweep?

four possibility's , arm position wrong park switch timing, broken link spring, parking spring release. First step GET A FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL, Has great pictures and info. Usually on line available $40 - $70. When operating the low position of blades should be about 2 1/4 -2 3/4 above molding. that leaves room for at rest position when turned off. Crank arm (that linkage attached to motor that wiper transmission attaches to - should be pointed up toward windshield when completely stopped. turn motor on and off make sure crank arm on the motor is correct. Connect transmission there is a great picture of this on page 8-82 in the manual. Maybe you can get a picture of that page on line. BUT buy a manual anyway! With arms and blades removed. If cam assembly is good, when you turn motor on watch the pivots, let it run several cycles. When you turn the switch off (do that when blade would be in an up position), wait, the pivot will stop, then move again to the rest position. Now put on an arm/blade assembly. and retest. Each time you turn on make sure the wiper operates thru several cycles before turning off. IF you shut the switch off with the wiper blade JUST Slightly passed top of pattern, they should stop about half way back down. If it takes 1 1/2 times may need cam assembly. that goofy looking assembly is what causes it to go to rest.

Try cleaning the points inside the wiper motor. You do not need to remove the motor to access the points. Remove the three screws holding the plastic cover, and gently turn it over to see the points. Use a little Berryman on a paper towel to clean the contact. If you have some very light sand paper (1200 is best) Very lightly polish the contact and reassemble.

I appreciate all the help but what would cause the wiper motor to continue spinning right around and around when only suppose to go 180 when put in park position. The other two speeds or settings work fine and motor spins to left .

I have a 67 which is a different setup....it does not have the "park" feature where the motor runs backwards.

However I ran into an odd issue of it not stopping when I cut the power and it was related to the plastic cover. In the 67, there is a cam under the cover that is attached to the cover. On the underside of the cam is a downward facing pin that catches a plastic drive mechanism attached to the motor. The cam lobe hits a flat piece of copper that breaks the circuit when the high lobe comes under the piece of copper. During run...that circuit is overridden and the motor "ignores" the breaking of the circuit. When you turn the switch off...the cammed circuit is what the motor runs off of, and that circuit remains live until the cam "breaks" the circuit and shuts the motor off.

The issue I ran into is the plastic cover is old and getting deteriorated. It doesn't hold everything down like it used to. For some reason the pin on the bottom side of the cam was riding up on top of the motor drive mechanism and I'm not sure why....but it wasn't breaking the circuit. My motor would run on when the switch was turned off. I ended up adding spacers to push the cam down a little bit so the pin would catch the motor drive and not ride up on top of it. Problem solved for me.

Don't know if that is your issue....but something to look at.
