Replacing Camshaft while engine is in car who done it?

Thanks guys if I do it now I know what I need to do.

The thing is, other than grill parts you need to get out of your way, all the other stuff has to be done even with the engine out. If pulling the engine, now you're unbolting exhaust, trans, etc...and doing the dirty deed of yanking and re-installing. It's a bit of a pain but I always left the engine in. Degreeing can be the tricky thing, a small wheel helps. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

It will take less time to pull the intake than to dic around fishing for lifters . just follow the procedure and make your life simple
That was what the fsm suggested. If someone wants to make extra work r&r the intake plus buying a new gasket that's their call.

The intake would be removed anyway for other slight modifications:

71 RR, alot of space. Just pull the intake and radiator. Had som issues with the dowel pin on my cam and while i was doing that i swapped the piston the rings and hone the bore with the block in the car! Worked out fine

Shoot, man...That is a backyard rebuild, not a cam swap!

Well, pretty much had it build on engine stand a couple weeks before that, got some issue's with smoke and so on and couldnt handle it and didnt wanna take it out again so. But it was a good thing i even fixed the heads and pressure tested the valveseats, anyway runs great now! So go for it wont take long!:)

Used to do cam changes on Saturday mornings.

I was thinking of possibly sneaking in a different camshaft in my 1970 Satellite in-situ (NOT removing the motor). Wondering if anyone has done this before and can comment on its PITA factor?

For sure I would have to remove the radiator but not sure what else on the front fascia...also would I need to get access from the top by removing the intake manifold?

Thank you for reading/responding etc...:popcorn2:

I changed the cam in my Coronet multiple times and then did a street test and a dyno test on each cam. That was a lot of work.
