Who has been put out of work and sent home ?

Why dont we do this every year when 30 to 50 thousand die from the flu?

Why didn't we do it with sars, mers, swine flu, etc?

What was different?

I think that they might know more about the permanent damage done to the lungs in ones who get this virus and survive. That is my opinion. Right now as of today it stands as 1.3% Die from the virus where I think the flu kills .03 so this is 4 times deadlier...

I believe its more contagious as well, from what I've read. Can live on various surfaces for many days, etc. Scary stuff if its true.

You can also carry it for days before symptoms present themselves. How many people can you contaminate in a few days? Yes think about that.

So how do they know?
30k+ per year die from flu. Hundreds of thousands get it.
Looks like the flu is much more dangerous. And they don't test for the common flu. The docs just say you have it...IF you go to the doc.
The numbers go up because they now perform a specific test.

If that is what your doctor does you had better find a different one. But having that swab stuck up your nose is only a temporary discomfort that feels like they are trying to drill into your brain.

To me it's not how many die from what, It's like anything, it's the unknown. We know nothing about this, except it's going around and we have no way to control it at this point. People do die from the flu even with a flu shot, but we have a flu shot we can give you, for this we have no idea where it might end.

If they don't have money to pay now. Parts shouldn't have been sent in the first place.
I try to earmark money to pay for parts that are needed.....so long as the present X didn't know lol

This morning, I got inspection stickers on three cars; 2 of the Chargers and my wife's car. Talking with the guy at the gas/inspection station, he said that Saturdays are usually like a zoo with inspection stickers, but there was no lines. He also said that they had to lay off one mechanic for lack of repair work and their gas sales were down 50%.

I stopped in at the office to take in the mail & for something different, I phoned in a lunch order at Five Guys which is located at the local mall. When I got there at noon, no one else was there other than the two employees. Nothing was cooking on the grill and the phones were not ringing. It really made me feel bad that here it was, high noon, and it was dead & it made me think that the store would be lucky if they made payroll by the end of the day. Leaving Five Guys and driving through the nearly empty parking lot Looking at the nearly vacant mall made me feeling even worse thinking about all of those who are affected by the shutdowns.
Things are not quite so bad here. Straight up noon is the worse time to order but we do have a huge petrochem industry close by. Kinda wondering when they will be laying off and slowing production though. There's a huge new subdivision going in right behind me and so far, they are still hard at it but we'll see how that goes after midnight tonight when the shelter in place goes into effect. :(

A scary time indeed. Ohio has 'essentials only', outdoor recreation. So if it gets to 60* on Thursday it'll be outdoor private shooting range; swipe card powered gate, so the only thing I touch will be the supplies I need.

I'm Good here...No problems...Residual Income every month........But........I'm planning my next trip to Viet Nam, and can't get a Visa...WTF ???

My boss pulled all of us into the office to give us the speal about keeping hand clean , wiping everything down that we touch. , including cars we touch. If they close because of lock down we all get layed off , which stands to reason but his manager is allowed to work and get payed while the rest of us go without. I found that pretty one sided. Greedy , but with all this said. When it all levels out. If it comes down to that. He wants us all to come back. To me its a money over matter thing. Not cool at all.

Not sure what the structure of the business is, but would you prefer it if there was no business to come back to? No job for you when this is all over? Business owners are trying to figure out how to survive. Just like emergency rooms that have shortages of ventilators and have to triage on who gets one, business owners are having to triage and figure out how to stay in business. In my case, if sales stop, there is still back office work that needs to be done. So, my sales and stock staff might have to be laid off, but my office manager might still be working.

Well this is a list I didn't think I would be on. I loaded my last load today, all of our customers plants will be closing tomorrow until they deem it safe. My doctor appointment was canceled due to the fact that I travel across state lines.

I still have an 'in' where I retired from. Spray& wipe everything you will touch getting in and upon getting out, 6 box checklist & hang tag put on vehicle when parked. This company has a whole bunch of yellow trucks across the country. No more face to face at rental counter(all done online)give you the key thru a locked door and off ya go!

A lot of small businesses will be lost. Alot of folks will lose what they have worked for.

Nice to know for those considering travel. Last week when the wife asked the doctor he just said keep him away from crowds. I have a tractor and equipment to pickup in Nebraska. The owner has said it can wait. Under the circumstances it can wait.
