Calling All Pontiac Guys!

Someone did a nice job with this one. No such thing as a Hurst Edition in this model though. It's also an LS7 with a 6 speed.

I've personally never seen a manual trans v8 in that body style.

I've seen a couple of v6 camaros with a manual.

I was thinking junk yard 5 speed swap.

I know a guy with a mid 80's 4-4-2 that did that.

Said it was real easy even though it was originally an auto.

Hey man shoot me a msg ! Your in box is still full I might be interested in that Pontiac if you don't want it !

Instead of Chebby power, the 1989 Turbo Trans Am had the Buick V6. 4.6 0-60 and 13.4 quarter mile. The Camaro didn't have this engine option.

So after scouring some of the Pontiac forums y'all mentioned, my Uncle found a copy of Pontiac High Performance from August of 85 of which his long lost love is in...the guy sold him one of his duplicates and it's on the way!!

More pics to follow...

Thank you all kindly for pointing us in the right direction!! Couldnt have done it with you!!! :thankyou:

He's got the mag, now he just needs the car lol

See some of us have a real like for goats and I'm the same. My 1st car I bought at 17 (my mom had to reluctantly co-sign as she was concerned about her youngest getting a car this quick) was a '67 GTO vert all optioned, I took after my older brother who had four of them over the years a '65, 2 '67's, and an ultra rare '69 Ram Air IV (non-Judge). He didn't like verts though as he was more into the raw giddy-up. My mother liked the '65 GTO my brother had so she bought one in a vert. She didn't keep it long as she was afraid of the power occasionally doing burn-outs especially when the streets were wet. My dad had a '63 GP tri-power, all black and took that get my driver's license. I've posted about that comical adventure as at the time it had a throttle hesitation that we later fixed...ahh it caused the driver test guy to get laid back in his seat when I had given it too much pedal. But after apologizing and explaining he gave me a pass. Then I was the family member taking us to mopars...my 1st was a '70 Cuda vert 383/4sp. I got into too much trouble with it as my 1st manual trans, just loved that pistol grip a bit too much...

Nice story! Drop top 383 4 speed Cuda. Enough engine to have fun, especially with the 4 speed, and with the convertible top, what a great all around car.
That 69 RA IV non-Judge was rare indeed! Automatic or 4 speed? Those were underrated on horsepower if you compare them to the next step down 400 cu in HP Pontiac engine. The small intake valves on the Pontiac (generally speaking) I think limit HP without some kind of forced induction, but the torque comes in fast and has a fairly wide curve. The bore x stroke is designed for torque too. The 421 in our GTO needs me to work on the timing curve and total advance. The more I consider that, the more convinced I am that is where I should be able to find some meaningful power.

The Pontiac crowd should be in the Ford Mustang forums. They have the same mind set. :D

Every GTO my brother had was a stick. His post '67 was a 3 speed zero options. He got the gumption to ahh, hard to fathom...install an auto in his '69 for some goofy reason and that was a missstake. He sold it soon after as he got into motorcycles big time after that...and to this day. Remember when he had the '67 plain Jane, next to it was mine, droptop, power everything, dual-gate, optional headrests that year, rally's, tilt. We both wish we had this one today as geezers! Another legendary car to want is the Pontiac SD 421. Great motor, ya gotta love it; a buddy stuffed one in his Lemans and won a ton of races with it back in the day.

There were 2 "Swiss cheese" Catalina drag race cars at the Mecum auction in Kissimmee my wife and I went to a few years ago. 421 SD 2x4bbl carbs. Pretty cool. The date code on the one in the 65 GTO is October 65, 4 bolt mains. I replaced the factory main cap bolts with ARP studs except for the 2 on one end as that was causing a fitment problem. Hydraulic roller cam, Eagle forged H beam rods, RaceTech forged aluminum pistons with a slight dish to bring the CR down from 11¼ to 10:1 Kept the 6777 iron heads because they were massaged by a previous owner, and we didn't plan on the rebuild so the budget was limited.

Ok, talking Pontiac, I have to post a pic of one of my creations. This was a pile when we got it. It’s a 1968 Pontiac Ambulance. Restored to work at the company I work for. Lots of work but lots of smiles when you drive down the road!

NICE NICE! Ya know how it's said you never forget your 1st girl? As I posted earlier, my 1st car was a '67 GTO I bought at the tender age of 17 and the FUN I had with it...gals loved it and a little trouble with the law...but most of the trouble would come later when I got my Cuda. Like to share a geeto story here if ya don't mind. I worked at a machine shop while going to HS and got out at 10 pm. I'd do a cruise thru our town before heading home; several times at a stop light heading out of town (4 lane blvd) this guy would come alongside also in a '67 GTO. We would get on it to the next light, then the next. Then road opened up big time to the expressway about two miles away...we buried it side by side! One time a car pulled out from a frontage road into my lane and I started hitting the brakes, major fading as when I looked at the speedo it was buried! I never knew who the guy was; but he evidently knew my nightly routine and would never look over to me when I would to him. Thrilling...friggin dumb as it was. And kinda spooky as maybe a year later a friend of mine lost his life merging onto the expressway we would race toward rolling his car over...he was tossed out and car rolled over him.

So the magazine arrived yesterday! I scanned it and here it is in digital form...
