Has anyone has used the 440 source heads and what is your build recipe with them

I am using a set on a 512 six barrel set up. Results unknown as engine won’t be installed for another 2-3 months. My goal was a near stock set up and only stroked engine because it was only a few hundred bucks more than going back as a stock 440.

I just put a motor together last summer with them. A nice set for the money.Look just like the stock heads. Only aluminium...The guys were really helpful. I got about 100 miles on the motor. It's a beast! If it wasn't for the charging problem I'd have more miles on it.
440 with a .030 over bore
Steel crank with Icon pistons
Bullitt camshaft solid flat tappet I believe the duration 255 @ .050 the lift is .582
Harland sharp 1.5 rockers
You will have to do some minor grinding for the push rod clearance. Other than that there pretty much a bolt on product.

I run them on my drag only car. I am at top of the cam size they recommendation with 7 degree keepers.

I did find pieces of the keepers doing routine inspection and replaced them with the 10 degree ones.

So after three plus years the springs gave up and I started to poke rockers (stock stamped ones) and bend pushrods. Replaced the springs and no more problems.

I would definitely run them on a mild street engine but next time, for a race only, I will take the more expensive route. IMHO

I have them on my 540, they are maxed out as my engine put out 600 hp and 700 ft/lbs of torque.. I have a set of Trick Flow 240's to put on later and the Source heads will be used for a "Stock" build.

I got a set in a package deal when building my Duster. Took the to the machine shop to check valve job etc. Had the seats and valves touched up, then vacuum tested. Had to replace 2 exhaust seats because they would not seal. Shop said when they were installed went in cocked and got some shavings under them. Also said when installing seats another seat popped up from driving seats in. I said stop any more work and got a set of TF 240s. Had them checked and were perfect. Sold the 440s and let the guy know what’s what.

I'm often a "Nattering Nabob of Negativism" (thank you Spiro T. Agnew). However what is said here about the Stealth heads is true. However.............

"........pretty much a bolt on product"............probably not.

Maybe more importantly though...."The guys were really helpful.".......Very true. I have always received excellent customer service from 440 Source.

Mine are cnc ported, different springs, 10 degree locks and keepers. Nice heads.
440 + .040", 800cfm Edelbrock AVS2, Holley SD intake, Hughes STL-3842 cam, 1 7/8" Headers, 2 1/2" exhaust.
