Do you already own one of the better N95 masks available?

Here's a tip for us car guys-

If you already own one of the popular 3M 5300 series respirators used for painting, you already have an N95 spec system!

In fact, the replaceable filters could even be P95 spec which is actually better.

Additionally, they are better sealing and are adjustable.

Not only that, there is valving to control intake through the filters, and exhaust through a central valve.

Now that I've bought enough for my family at "normal" pricing of about $25 with free shipping I feel free to let the secret out.

I bet the prices soar once the general population figures this out.

Plus you get that "I'm F'n serious about this" look that could make wearers of lesser masks feel intimidated.

I live in New Jersey and the masks, respirators, and refills for them have been sold out for two months now.
I have a respirator which I am keeping in a safe place if I need it

What about vintage WW ii gas mask, or any modern law enforcement gas mask?

I found a new box of 50 CVS pharmacy masks in a suitcase at a rental home I manage and took 'em all home. This was back in January when I had a terrible cold/flu and a return flight planned (did not want to upset fellow passengers with any coughing). Now I'm glad I swiped 'em.

I also have some of those white 3M particle masks with the metal piece on the bridge of the nose.

I had a package of about 20 of them and sent them with my wife to work (she's a PA at a local clinc). The clinic manager cried when she handed the masks to her.

I'm not going to get political but your healthcare workers are in need. I did keep a couple for my family but know there are others that need them more.

One of my wife’s client, her daughter works in the ER. She said that they only get a new mask every 3 days. The hospital is trying to conserve them so if it gets real bad, they don’t run out.

I work in a hospital. The n95 masks are all being saved for direct face to face patient contact. Everyone else wears a particle mask all day every day. We have to use them as long as possible several days if it is in good condition. We are screened every time we enter the hospital. Our temp is taken every day. Most of us agree we will get it some day. The masks with a valve will protect you but not others from you. They can be worn in a positive tested patients room only. If you see a person with a valved mask treat them as if they had no mask. GOD Bless us. Be careful.

Good point.

Ordered 2 via ebay along with a pack of filter replacements on Monday.

$25 each with free shipping.

First one came in yesterday.

If your local auto paint supply store is still open, they might have them.

But they will be about $35.

Saw one on ebay yesterday for $175.

Still dozens on there for $25-$35.

This got me a bit curious so I took a look in my tool bin in the back of my truck and found this. Been there for years and never used. First $1,000 takes it!

Eureka!

The tandem mask.

#facemasks matter

I have three of them, but dont use them. Distance and hand washing are more effective and even with the mask, you'll need eye protection...as the eyes are way more vulnerable.

Thought about the one with the plastic eye guard.

I wear reading glasses 99% of the time.

Wife and mom both wear prescription.

So eyes not totally exposed.

But good point.

None of the cheapies do either.
