Gin for hand sanitizer

I saw that on our LA newscast. If it’s the same outfit. Creative and smart along with socially conscious
 
The article title is a bit misleading. They don't use gin. The use the ethanol that is produced to make gin. Many craft distilleries are making hand sanitizer.
 
With all the bars being shut down, i think this is brilliant ! Now someone needs to follow suit for ventilators.

There are many places around making parts for ventilators and face protection on 3d printers.

What products are the breweries making? They must be making the mash for the distilleries to run.
 
I'm of the understanding that Molsons just switched over a bunch of lines to make sanitizer vs beer. Not sure how or what they are actually doing.
 
And I thought only Kentucky fried chicken was finger lickin good.
 
I’m glad they can make it now. Certain alcohols won’t work, not high enough percentage.

The ethanol has to be a certain proof to make it strong enough to be effective. Isopropyl alcohol needs to be in the 90% range so if you look to buy it make sure you find the 90%. Below that won’t be effective. Ethanol needs to be about 170 proof or 85% to make it.

There was a rule on the books that alcohol breweries, etc. could not make sanitizer! They now can because that law has been lifted!

Your own recipe for sanitizer:
To make -
6 ounces ounces of hand sanitizer
You’ll need either 90% isopropyl alcohol or 85% ethanol alcohol
Bottle of aloe gel (or any type of gel product) I use aloe and can find it too!

Add 5.5 ounces of your alcohol
Add .5 ounces of your gel and mic together really well
Put in older sanitizer squirt bottle and shake it up really well again.

Not perfect but works well!

I made some just couple days ago for the truck. I used 190% everclear!
 
On a similar note for substitute disinfectants, people in colder climates may have some ISO gas line freeze treatment on hand that might take care of business. Just a thought.
 
I stumbled through the Oregon district many times. Usually around the Halloween season.

Do they still have Jaycees haunted houses out in the farmland towards Beavercreek/Xenia?

Those were THE BEST.
 
I would think brake cleaner would work.
Seems to kill/destroy everything else.

Along with herbs and spices, gin is flavored with Juniper berries. There is a reason why it tastes like a pine tree.
 
Can I have some sliced limes, Ice & Tonic water (quinine :poke: )
with my hand sanitizer please :drinks:
 
Or you can just drink the high proof ethanol (slivovitz) and sanitize yourself from the inside out.

yep saw an episode recently of "Moonshiners"
on Discovery net.
a couple of them guys are using their labels/breweries
to distil hand sanitizers Tim & Digger both were
Digger was making it at home, for free

I don't remember their distillery/label names off hand
they were delivering it directly to Police & Fire stations

old illegal bootleggers/moonshiners
doing that stuff, must feel strange to them
taking that stuff, to old adversaries
a little good will goes a long way
