Who has been put out of work and sent home ?

My wife, who is pregnant, is finishing out this week and then coming home. She says for a week, her doctor says two. She owns her own hair salon and the other girls that work for her have had people cancel, but she has not. Like mentioned above regardless if she works or not, her business bills will still come in. I quit my job last September when our first daughter was born. With the price of cattle way, way down, and nobody looking for CNC Plasma cut stuff, things will be real tight until it straightens out. I believe things will straighten out, just don’t know how long it will take to get there.

My employer pulled all rail service due to a positive employee. Some buses still running.
Still have a job.

week 2, no work and I'm not entitled to unemployment. And I Have never applied. My wife Was employed at small business ( furniture maker) still closed and not looking good for the future.

from #'s I've seen US death rate is low in comparison
with all the testing we had in just 8 days allegedly
#'s will have a spike too
relatively the same #'s of tests that S. Korea did
in same #'s in about 8 weeks

except Washington State & NY state/NYC are higher than average
it was like 1% or below 1% here in the US as a whole
before NY went ballistic, a week or so ago
& most at a min. 1/2 or more of the death cases in Washington State
were at 1 senior care facility over 40 of them & 1 or 2 nurses

much lower #'s per capita, than many other 1st world nations/countries
NY if it was a country
I'd be the like the 4th worst in the world #'s of cases & deaths
as of this morning
similar to Washington state, 2 isolated states & incidents/#'s reporting

skews the whole country in #'s

I'm pretty damn sick of every news source, doing a running tally
& people that don't know ****, calling the #'s either over reported
wrong or under reported, by all parties...
Most have an agenda...
Don't have the actual facts/stats...
One way or other... be it denial/wishful thinking, optimism or fear-mongering
you chose your own poison...

this is all very dynamic, constantly changing

Who sets their *** down in a port potty? I'm in my 60's & never once has my *** been in direct contact with a portable potty seat... Hover....
The Asians at my local Golf Course are like that...explains the sprig marks around the hole in the seat.

Our entire country is locked down, and nearly everyone is out of work ...except for essential services.

My company manufactures and packs food so no doors closing here. About 400 employees. There is only one guys and girls restroom now because Mgt. closed off front offices to keep regular employees out for protection against virus. Moral is very grim because some have fell sick and people work on lines for 10-12hr shifts in 45 degrees. But if you survive it you have a job so not all bad. I work in machine maintenance so I have it better than most. But everywhere you look nothing but dejection. I hope this passes soon.

Went out for a shopping/hunting trip yesterday. It’s so mind bending to be driving amongst all these Huge office buildings and large commercial complexes and the like - and realizing they’re all empty. It’s an extremely Erie feeling. Then you drive by a Hooters restaurant and a flag goes up that says we’re open. Yes you are - be right there.....

Did this resonate with your daughter? What does she and her friends think about all this crazy stuff. That’s a bustling area which I’ve stayed in many, many times. I’m curious what the younger generation is saying about all this.....

Getting off topic but seeing the pic somehow reminds me of some downtown cruising decades ago. We would take a trip on occasion to downtown Milwaukee's Wisconsin Avenue on Saturday nights to do a little stop light racing. It was a popular cruise area where you would see all sorts of muscle cars, rods, etc. new and old. That got banned then the pop cruise area was a main street on the SW side of the city an adj suburb - Highway 100. Rapidly becoming more urban at the time with endless strip malls; but a wide blvd and many lights. It was there a bud of mine totaled his brand new 396 Chevelle wrapping it around a street light. He spent months in a hospital with some 8 surgeries and nearly lost his leg. Forever limping afterward with steel rods implanted he bought a 69 440 GTX he managed to keep away from street lights. Later the police had enough of the the cruising/racing in that area ending that. Well got a bad reputation as some people congregated in the parking lots drinking and pissing in the lots. Cruising got banned all over the place around that time. Well I digress...sorry, I'll return this thread back to the point. Your daughter's photo is one for a cover on Time magazine.

She's a 28 year old professional and has had a hard time accepting the situation. But I think it's slowly getting through to her as this becomes our new "normal". I think that's the same for a lot of us no matter what age. I have to admit that early on I was thinking this was way over hyped by the media, but it's become our reality, now. We're all so used to our freedom of movement - which has been put on hold for the time being. My daughter and I had a trip planned to Philadelphia for a Flyers game on March 17th. That got scrapped when the NHL shut down a few days earlier. We were just a week late in being able to take that trip. She has a trip to Portugal planned with her boyfriend for the end of May. That's most likely not going to happen either. She's also scheduled to move to a different apartment building Easter weekend. Her mover backed out, but she got another one. But I'm not sure it's even going to be permitted right now. So these are things that have upset her the most - having to cancel plans. While the shelter in place situation is challenging for us, too, we older folks understand the health hazard part more than the younger generation, I think.

I hope all her plans come to fruition. This is so hard on everyone. But you’re right I think about the younger folks being less accepting of the situation. They’re free spirits and not used to things that stop them in their tracks. Not sure that any of us are but at least we had the greatest generation to learn from. This is our WWII. With trust in God we’ll make it thru.
