Any Trick to Removing/Replacing Saginaw P/S Pulley?

The "remanufactured" AutoZone power steering pump is sold without pulley ('72 Satellite Sebring Plus). I know sometimes one needs a puller to remove the belt pulley. What is the procedure in this case? Thank you.
 
If there is no threads on the end of the shaft (just smooth and blunt end with a center hole) you will need a puller to remove the old pully off the old pump. then the center hole is threaded to install a install tool (bolt). if your original pump has a nut on the pully you got the wrong new pump.
 
If the pump is a Saginaw the shaft is threaded and the pulley held in place with a nut. If the one from autozone isn’t threaded you have received a federal pump.
 
Saginaw pumps could be had both ways, with threads or press on
 
Every Saginaw I have ever seen is keyed with a nut. After the nut is removed they can still be kinda hard to remove due to 40-50 years of gunk. Don't bend the gear while removing it! Rent a gear puller if necessary. The destructions are usually shown on the inside of the case lid. Good luck.

I guess you have only seen a few then, as I said the come both ways Keyed or pressed
 
I vaguely remember removing the pulley from a Saginaw pump on a '75 Cordoba with a 360. It was a press on pulley. This was in the mid '90s.
I think you use the same procedure for anything that is press on. Use a puller to remove, and probably a bolt and washer(s) to install.
I always use a little bit of grease on the shaft to keep the rust away.
 
Pre 72’ Saginaw pumps had a threaded shaft with key way and nut. There is an early and late style Saginaw if it looks like a GM pump it’s the later one if it has
and round tank and oval neck it’s the early one.

Correct there are 2 different styles of Saginaw pumps.
The type that should be on the OP's 72 will have the 3 spoke pulley with the nut.

The later style has a solid pulley.
This one is from a mid 70's 440 truck. This one has the Delco reservoir but I've had them with the Chylser reservoir too.

Also I think the change was in 74. I've had a few 73's with the 3 spoke pulley and my 74's have the solid pulley.
 
And also again I've never had to use a puller on a 3 spoke pulley. Loosen but do not remove the nut. Then hold the pump pulley up with one hand under the pulley. Then a little tap on the nut and the pulley pops loose. Probably have changed 30-40 of them over the years.
Fixing to change the exact same pump on a 1968 Corvette tomorrow.
 
I'm thinking both reservoirs are Saginaw's. Early and late. Not Chrysler and Delco. This 68 Vette I'm working on has the Chrysler style reservoir so I did some checking. Same with other other GMs of the era.
