Hello, I just bought a #s match 1971 road runner in excellent cond. from a private party (Mopar collector ~ 30 cars). The first thing I noticed was how hard I had to push on the clutch pedal and my calf was sore for ~ 4 days after the test drive last week. Seller did not think it was abnormal, but my buddy who has a '71 Chevelle checked and agrees it is like doing leg presses in the gym.

Can anyone help or comment? Car is completely stock from what I can tell but no idea...

Now you know why Mopar guys are so tough.....

Seriously, I've got a Hays Gold in my 69 RR and it is definitely a leg full.
Check the linkage for binding, and the Z bar mountings first.
Enjoy!!

g'day from Australia :welcome:, just normal I have two 4 speeds and there tough to push in / easy on the way out

Welcome aboard from NJ Robert. Please post more pictures when you get a chance!

Check to make sure your clutch linkage is correct. everything needs to be compatable, right down to the clutch fork pivot inside the bell housing. Brewer Performance website shows pictures of every componete and the years they fit. Finally, IMO a Centerforce Dual Friction pressure plate and clutch disc can't be beat for holding power and very soft pedal pressure--no overcenter spring needed.................MO
