Hello all,

I am restoring my 68 Dodge Charger and have completely sandblasted underneath the car. Now I am planning on putting a coat of sealer and topping that with a coat of paint. My only issue is that I would like to keep it looking nice and shiny underneath.

Any suggestions on what product to use. I don't want a Tailor Queen, nor will this car be my daily driver. I want to project the underneath of the car but also don't want that Ugly looking rubberized textured look.

Any Suggestions on which route I should take.

I have looked at SEM Bedliner 39631 Product (Rubberized and Non Textured)
I have also looked at the Eastwood Ceramic Chassis Paint.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

My advice may not qualify as being expert, but i can tell you what i used, and my experience with it. I stripped the undercoating off of my 68 coronet, and applied 3 coats of Chassis Saver paint. At the top of every can it says, stops rust. It seems to be extremely durable. As if it would hold up to rock chips etc. And is available in several sheens. I chose gloss black. Extreme care must be used when working with it. It will NOT wash off your skin. It has to wear off. Several times i've gotten it on my hands, and once on my elbow. I tried using paint thinner, lacquer thinner, gas, acetone, hand cleaner, everything i could think of. And nothing took it off. I've also found that if you remove the lid, and get any on the top edge of the can, after resealing, you will destroy the can, before the lid comes back off. I poke 2 holes in the top, and seal them with foil tape afterward. Its rather pricey. I paid approx $35 a quart. I applied it with foam paint brushes. It left a nice finish when done.

Just my 2 cents. Rust-oleum #248914 Truck Bed Coating spray cans. 15 oz can.It will take about 4-6 cans. Did my 65 and a 64 Dart. The Dart I even did the inside floors instead of carpet ( was mostly used as a race car) Worked for me nice and thin and holds up great. Just a thought.

Thanks Darter6. Do you have any pics. What type of finish was it? And can it be done without spray cans?

I think they have brush on too. I don't have any good photos.
I was just doing a quickey on the Dart.Maybe get a can and do a test for yourself.
The Dart was more of a rat rod theme. Again just a thought.

Inner fenders on the 65 is the best shot I have

Nice work there. Thanks for the pics.

I did however get convinced by this video I saw on Youtube.

Seems convincing. What you think

Is was thinking not even putting any undercoating on mine now that I sent through with scraping, blasting and painting!!

I use Eastwood Chassis Black Satin over Eastwood Epoxy primer. Here is an example car (not mopar). The coating becomes very hard and chip resistant.
