well guys I no this has come up before but since I'm in deep thoughts about 1st going with gathering the 426 Hemi parts and then going with a 440 and stage v parts going to pull my numbers matching 440+6 and storing in the corner ,would like to build a nice street motor with dual quads and either keep the 4 speed in it or go with a 6spd thoughts if you want you can send me your thoughts in a pm or post it here thanks 426 Hemi

You'll be happier with the performance of a 440-6 better, but if a hemi is a must have, then either leave it stock or stroke it to 470-ish.

What does the Hemi need? I have a couple of matching numbers engines that if I had been thinking when the cars were built that I would have been more satisfied with a play engine and the numbers engines in storage.

I'm wanting to build a Hemi for my '65, so I'll be keeping an eye on this, if You don't mind ?

six pac is great it was built in the 70`s but would to keep it that way before it blows up and then no orig. motor for the next owner, my 68 had a Hemi and I put parts every where outside the motor so the next one would be for looks and go ,figured the 400 - and 440 blocks are a dime a dozen

I own both a sixpack car and a Hemi car. The Hemi car will runs circles around the 440. However, it is 528" but makes way more than double the horsepower and still streetable.

This is not a street motor no matter what your told. Finicky expensive and not for everyone. if you want it then first thing no crate motors, junk.

Use
1. Stage V Heads and Rockers.
2. Isky Bronze bush roller lifters.
3. Blocks use a new block no 50 year old junk.
4. Source a good real main seal holder design, not the original.
5. Oil thru push rods for street.
6. Single 4 barrel will run good, duel 4's look nice but run like crap.
7. Stroke it 472 like said by Cranium.
8. Diamond Pistons.
9. Balance4 entire assembly together crank, rods, balancer pistons, rings and torque converter.
10. Mild cam..
11. Duel Plain Intake for street.

The only way to build a hemi for the street is big. 572 cubes, Edelbrock heads are a great head for the money, spend good coin for good rockers (RBRE, T&D,Jesel, etc.) a decent size cam to match the cubes and the StageV single plane intake. You don’t need a dual plane on a stroker.
