If so is it worth the hassle?

i have never use rice i believe it would work as it absorbs butter mmmmm.

but kitty litter the clay type works good just remember to put chubby checker on and do the twist and the pavement will turn white.
the rice should be about the same as the kitty liter sweep it up if not wash with garden hose out the door.

I recently spilled 5 qts on my floor. Wiped some of it with paper towels. Then went to the store, and they were out of kitty litter. I bought a big bag of cheap powdered soap detergent. Left it on overnight. Then swept it up, and wiped the floor with a wet sponge.

Rice absorbs oil when heat is applied....Rice Risotto & Paella both start with heating oil & butter with rice.

If you're talking about spilled motor oil....I don't think that is going to help much. Sawdust, gypsum powder or cement will work for you.

There's a good reason why a lot of Churches have banned rice at weddings.

It has nothing to do with all those leaky old Limey cars that take the bride & groom away at the end. :D

If it works sell it to one of those guys that owns a Rice Burner.......You know the ones with the Fart Mufflers

I don't know about oil but it absorbs water out of your phone real good when you accidentally fall in the pool...

Done the 'Chubby Checker' with the floor dry too many times to remember how many lol

Yeah, not too good for the things with wings....

Or jump in on purpose when you accidentally forgot about the phone? Can't remember the last time I've been in a pool...

Anyways, a buddy brought over 60+ lbs of the white mess and told me to donate it but after looking at the 'best if used by' date, don't think anyone would take it. One bag is almost 6 years old! Might keep a small container just in case I fall into something.....wet :D Somehow I end up with many things like this from him lol. Can't complain as he has always treated me well.

Is there anything else this stuff might could be used for.....besides filling up someone's rice burner?

I use it in my vibratory brass polisher for cleaning rifle and pistol brass before I reload it. Works great. You always end up with a grain stuck in the primer hole but you usually get a grain of whatever you use stuck in there anyway.

When I make Mexican rice I always put a little oil in a skillet to brown the rice before boiling it....seems legit....

Not a much of a rice eater.....

Rice hulls (or husks) are used
or use to be used/added to the mix
in many oil or many different liquid clean ups
at some racetracks of old

far better stuff out there today

Jesus, I can't believe there is a thread on this subject.
I split my shop into the dirty side and the clean side.
Throw some NAPA floor dry on the the oil spills on the dirty side and get on with it.

At least I didn't start another thread about the virus :poke:

Running rice through your coffee grinder is a great way to clean out the old coffee bean oils. I wonder how long 60 pounds would last?
