Not car related but getting the old Whaler ready to go. My favorite trout lake usually open now. Been having an odd pattern of nasty weather on the weekends.
I assume there are some fishermen on the site?

Lake Trout?
My favorite fish is Eagle Lake Trout. A native to one lake in the northeast part of California. They have a reputation of fighting hard and the meat is pink/red. They are planted in several lakes around here and I have heard even in other parts of the country. If your bored you can probably google it.
Also have some good German Browns around here!

I have gone Lake trout fishing in Canada on Crowe Lake. When you cruise across the lake and your 100 ft. depth finder screen goes black you know you are in the zone. 50+ft. down is a fight for sure and damn do they taste good on the grille, wrapped in foil with a lot of butter and lemon.

Fishing is still allowed as I understand. Wish I had a boat and I’d find a destination.

A friend of mine loves trout fishing in our North Island rivers....Rainbow and Brown trout. He also adds finely chopped bacon & onion to the generous quantity of butter when baking. I have tasted it, and it is good.....very good. :)

Got a return call today from the storage place that the GTX has been winter stored at and was told that since they are deemed non-essential business, we are not to operate until the state order is lifted, but we want to make after dark appointments with our car customers to get their cars out on request.
I am waiting on my appointment time in the next 5 days.
I am blessed to be employed in an essential business (Plumbing/Heating/Waterworks)
God bless all of you, and stay well!

Lamb!
At Costco NZ Whole lambs 12-14 kilograms are 144.00.
Canadian whole lambs cut and wrapped are about 5.50-6.00/lb.
I'll just point out here also, that all NZ Lamb is grass fed, NOT grain fed.

Not sure how you guys in Canada farm the sheep....there is a definite difference in taste.

That just reminded me of an episode of the Dukes of Hazzard. Luke asked some guy pretending to be a sheep farmer if he had "Long Horn, or Winter Wool sheep" .....and later said to Bo that what he asked was a bunch of malarkey. :D

MMM.. Lake Trout... Not looking like I'll be able to head for camp for a LONG time though. Spring they're shallow, but Summer we're usually down rigging the 140FOW troughs. My dearly departed Daughter with a perfect eater size..

come to think of it I need to order a prop
better pitch for trolling,
I have a prop that's to fast at idle (2 stroke) on it now
my dad wrecked the last one :BangHead:
no big deal as long as he had a good time :D

or if you want to drag a big ol' 5th wheel out & sit by "parking",
can not really call it camping, my dad loves it thou

Damn, sorry to hear about your daughter. Damn nice "troot" your buddy caught.

when I lived in Palmer Alaska
we'd go to a few different lakes

never caught anything that big ice fishing thou

summers the salmon runs are/were to die for...

Kenai peninsula wasn't very far either,
Pinks, smaller Cocani/Sockey , reg. Sockey, Kings, Silvers & Chad
Big Susitna & Little Susitna (Little tributary) river, some great fishing
Little Susitna was pretty limited on where & when you could
or couldn't fish...
Bears too...
At times you coukld literally walk across the fish, so damn many
It was a spawning river/creek more like most the time...

I like going for goldens, browns or brooks, in little obscure lakes
(relatively smaller fish but for the size they fight like crazy, tail dance on light rigs)
anything smaller was usually in lakes outback inland

just a gold hook (or Mepps spinner/lure, like Devil)
& a little split shot lead for some depth control
you could limit out, just standing on the shoreline

Halibut in the coastal deeper bays,
was yummie & could grow huge

I'm not sure how we farm sheep here either, BUT I do know that most of the time I see lamb in our meat section, it is imported from New Zealand.

I prefer Rainbow.. I have a nice back lake I fly into for these. Red as a tomato inside and you get free seafood some times to boot!

we have a lot of stocked fish up here
Rainbow's are the majority

I like the natural fish up here much better
they tend to be a tad smaller, grow slower
but better looking & tasting meat too

but I'll keep rainbows,
I don't keep the smaller, even legal ones
I usually release them anyway,
but we have a 5 fish limit on them
we get lots of tourist come up & deplete the stock :BangHead:

I know the guy who runs our local fishery & my neighbor
is a Calif. Fish & Game Warden Lt. supervisor,
so I get some good intel, from time to time...

I've slowed way down the past couple years,
my dad's health/heart/lungs issues
(he still goes from time to time)
it's not as fun going by myself or without my best fishing buddy

Would fishing be considered grocery shopping?
