My favorite fish is Eagle Lake Trout. A native to one lake in the northeast part of California. They have a reputation of fighting hard and the meat is pink/red. They are planted in several lakes around here and I have heard even in other parts of the country. If your bored you can probably google it.Lake Trout?
I have gone Lake trout fishing in Canada on Crowe Lake. When you cruise across the lake and your 100 ft. depth finder screen goes black you know you are in the zone. 50+ft. down is a fight for sure and damn do they taste good on the grille, wrapped in foil with a lot of butter and lemon. My favorite fish is Eagle Lake Trout. Also have some good German Browns around here!
A friend of mine loves trout fishing in our North Island rivers....Rainbow and Brown trout. He also adds finely chopped bacon & onion to the generous quantity of butter when baking. I have tasted it, and it is good.....very good.wrapped in foil with a lot of butter and lemon.

I'll just point out here also, that all NZ Lamb is grass fed, NOT grain fed.Lamb!
At Costco NZ Whole lambs 12-14 kilograms are 144.00.
Canadian whole lambs cut and wrapped are about 5.50-6.00/lb.
Damn, sorry to hear about your daughter. Damn nice "troot" your buddy caught.MMM.. Lake Trout... Not looking like I'll be able to head for camp for a LONG time though. Spring they're shallow, but Summer we're usually down rigging the 140FOW troughs. My dearly departed Daughter with a perfect eater size..

Not the biggest we've pulled up. We've had a few in that range over the years, the best was a 48 1/4" beast that JUST fit through a 9" hole. Now that's a fish
I'm not sure how we farm sheep here either, BUT I do know that most of the time I see lamb in our meat section, it is imported from New Zealand.I'll just point out here also, that all NZ Lamb is grass fed, NOT grain fed.
Not sure how you guys in Canada farm the sheep....there is a definite difference in taste.
That just reminded me of an episode of the Dukes of Hazzard. Luke asked some guy pretending to be a sheep farmer if he had "Long Horn, or Winter Wool sheep" .....and later said to Bo that what he asked was a bunch of malarkey.
