Any tire dating gurus on here?

Those tires are out dated.I would contact the seller for an exchange for NEW tires!:elmer::elmer::elmer::elmer:
Hemi, he said earlier that they were Coker repops of the old T/A radials. I think they are probably fairly new, they just look old.
(and mismatched!:()

They still need date codes
Check the other side as they only code one side not both

OK, found em on the outside, ( white letter) side.. So are these 38th week of 2018? They are Appx 1 1/2 years old?

38th week of 2018. If you just bought them new I would be questioning the seller. I’m sure they will tell you they’ve been in cool dry storage and you have nothing to worry about.

As probably most of us on here do, the problem is age rather than wear... These will go on the front of my 67, of which the tires on it have about 80% of wear left but are from 03..... So I start out with tires already 1 1/2 years old...
On the other hand, since I turn 65 this month, they will probably outlast me.. Fed Ex is picking up the 235 today and Jegs is sending me another 225..

I agree, most of the tire places tell you the dates important when buying but if you buy new ones and their ‘old’, they give you the run around. I would be trying to get a fresher set. On the other hand, if the car is stored indoors I’m okay with 10 year old tires as long as they look okay and always inflated properly. Just my personal view, I know others think it’s like an expiration date. I just picked up an Express truck that has tires from the 90’s, truck was always inside. Those tires are hard as rock and visually just don’t look quite right. They are on the list for replacement.

I never worried too much about tire age either until the whole tread peeled off the left front tire on my 67 Satellite while I was going about 70 mph down the highway. Car was always stored inside and only driven 1k miles a year. Tires were about 12 yr old Kelly Chargers that barely looked worn and I checked them often. Happened very quickly and tire didn't go flat, just threw the tread which of course damaged the fender on its way out.

It can happen, not saying it never will. Hopefully no one got hurt.

Not trying to pick on your statement too much, just giving my experience so hopefully others do not have the same issues. Anyone running older tires should definitely keep a close eye on them. Proper inflation is always important, but also look closely for any signs of dry rot like small cracks along the sidewall.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. I'm not sure exactly where the tread went after it came off, but there was no traffic on the road near me when it happened and since it didn't go flat (eventually did a few days later) I was able to safely pull off the road.

I sent the 235 back and today I received notice that my 225 is on its way..

I want to thank all for the help with this......
