What's going on with 3M

Not sure why you'd post this in '71-'74, but that said despite what is being reported I have it under some pretty good authority that 3M in Perth, Ontario started making masks a week or more ago. I grew up in the Valley and have many friends still there, some work in said plant..

lve just seen on the news that mr Trump has put a stop on an order placed with 3M by Canada!!!

Fixed! 3M is making masks as fast as they can from what was reported this morning. US manufacturing will distribute them in the states first from what I understand.

Yep, used the war act or what ever it's called to stop them from shipping out of the country. 3M won't comment if they are retooling any Canadian plants, but as I said I grew up in the Ottawa Valley and have friends in the Perth plant... and they were supposed to start making masks last week. I also have an industrial filter manufacturer here in town, next door to our Plastics Plant, and Danny retooled and is starting to make masks as well. A big game of catch up, but it is what it is.
 
Apparently, the 3M Distributors, which number around 20 through out the U.S., have been selling their stock to the "highest" cash bidders. Many have been shipped out of the USA, to Foreign Lands, while Our Nation is in short supply also ! Time for the Administration to put a STOP to That...

You should be pissed at 3M.

Like He's got the time to keep track on All the individual needs. He's doing the Best job He can, with what was left to straighten out, after the last joker was in there, and fighting the other FOOLS OFF...

If this thread isn't nuked soon or moved to the polly forum expect it to be soon. Before that occurs, having to work with companies needing masks come to find we haven't allowed receipt of millions from china due to FDA/CDC blockage for them needing 'approval'. Takes 90 days to do or something like this. WTF, move it up the chain then to approve or deny. For Covid, they don't need NIOSH certification. Ahh well we ship millions outside the US and then also block imports - what's wrong with this picture?
 
Don't think 3M wants to shut out everyone because this will be over someday and people sometimes have long memories .. not in the US of course. :popcorn2:
 
I’m ashamed of 3M as they’re from my home state of Minnesota. At first they got good press for doing the right thing then this came up. WTF!? Retooling and mfg more masks then selling them outside the country. What a bunch of miserable fucks. Where’s your sense of patriotic duty - and to make a few extra bucks. It’s a damn shame!
 
Its just a down right shame we are depending on China manufacturing or any other country to furnish supplies that should have never of left the country to begin with.

Sad but it's all about profit. If American workers would work for a dollan hour or less with no benefits and there were no unions and Osha, maybe we could compete.

Yea that is what they wanted us to believe. We were sold on the idea that opening in foreign markets would give us a place to sell our goods and we all know where that has gotten us.
