My 1972 Plymouth Satellite was a California car with something attached to the speedometer gear on the transmission then the speedometer cable attached to it. two wires came off it and they were attached to something on the firewall.
Pictures added. Any idea what it is.

Sounds like a speed sensor, car could have had aftermarket cruise control previously.

This is what I came up with: 3438494 71-72 A/T NOX SPD SWITCH. I'm wondering if this wasn't part of that goofy emissions electrical vacuum advance circuitry?

Was that a California thing?

My LA build 72 400 4bbl. had that also. Part of the NOX as stated.

Robert, if this speed sensor is still available, I'm interested. I tried sending a message but your mailbox is full.
