Ordering stuff in the time of COVID-19

What I think is gross is ordering used car parts from someone & when it arrives and I open the box, the stench of old cigarette smoke smacks me in the nose.
......got some old belts off eBay a while back and had to bury them in the yard out of pity due to the cig stench

Laying down an order this week to classic industries ......

I placed an order with Amazon April 4th for a Great States 18" manual reel mower for the impending apocalypse :). It arrived in 2 days.

Remember a very old lady mowing her yard with one of these in the 60's & early 70's.
She must have been in her 80's. Here yard was at least an acre.
I remember thinking, Damn she is tough.

Great message! I wonder how many businesses especially the mom and pop's will survive (aside from possibly snagging the virus) to open their doors again. As one who helps companies with their risk management plans both disaster planning and recovery, this thing is a different animal entirely and pretty much has spared few. When will we see stadiums packed full of fans again and how many will want to go to a ball game again when this passes? This has forced a lot of new habits and have to fear shaking hands or maybe giving a hug to a good friend or relative (those you might like lol). Go figure as the brick and mortar places have been dying off anyway due to online shopping and kids playing video games rather than outside playing with their friends our world is evolving to a new existence I don't like to see as an aging boomer. Well I'm on the other side of the curve of life having to think about this more and ain't no fun.

I've heard the guberment estimate that 1 out of 5 businesses will stay permanently shuttered; that estimate was made over a month ago. I think there will be permanent changes to our society. Social distancing will be the new norm. People will be even more reluctant and wary to meet others, whether they may be in small or large social settings. The service industry will see less on-site traffic and will have to deal with more delivery, as people are becoming accustomed to staying at home and are now discovering the ease of not leaving your home and having your goods delivered. I also think sports venues won't be the same, at least not for a while. Again, why go outside when you can have your experience in the comfort of your own home on the boob tube. Our dependence and addiction to electronic devices will be an undeniable thing; more of us will not be able to tear ourselves away from our devices as this is a habit we're relying on to maintain our sanity, now. The world will never be the same...

received my AMD valve covers today from Summit,Summit said april 21 a little quicker then they thought.. Gonna leave the box alone a couple days to be safe.

Like all mail and packaging... spray it with Lysol and leave it where it sits for a few days...

Don't try that around here... Next time you return your package will be gone..

I didn't mean leave it in the street!! I go to our mail box, spray it and the mail and then scoop it into a cardboard tray and set in the back of my truck. Then leave it on the garage floor after flipping and spraying again and washing my hands. Same with boxes..

I just put in an order with amazon. Expected delivery date is 4/15-21. I think it will not be on time. I just have this funny feeling. It’s chinese made stuff an those ships are probably being tied up. We shall see ... nothing urgent but I’m curious

Woo weee! I plunked down some dough at Legendary and Classic. Interior and convertible top cost a mint, but now we move on to all the other stuff that's going to make my wife doubt my sanity.

I ordered a microwave 2.2 cu.ft. 1700 watt Whirlpool Stainless
to match the rest of my appliances, from Lowes online,
they didn't have any listed in stock
at the local store
(my old one took a dump, it was from 2005-07-ish)

they are usually really good, get stuff promptly

I ordered it 3/27 it won't be shipped now till, 5/20

not happy, but it isn't any big deal either, considering the situation

I have a little Jap Crap POS 750 watt 1.2 cu.ft.
I brought in from the garage
it's freaken' slow & small compared to the good one

Other than buying and selling with guys on this forum, I won't be placing any orders on line at this time.

Ever think MLB would be shut down or the NFL? Geez, the Masters and the British Open. I had to do an educational session about businesses not reopening after a cat event (part of work I do)...go figure it was after the bomb exploded in the WTC in 1993! Never thinking what the future would hold 8 years later. Some 15% of the biz's never recovered from the '93 event and yeah - Lord knows how many ma & pop shops won't come back. Sad - sad deal.
