Does or has anyone ever heard of of PG using a Superbird as a promotional car for Tide back in the day? Potentially in the Tennessee (southern states) area?

Thanks
Chris

A buddy of mine is restoring his Superbird, and the seller("Dub") who sold it to him always claimed it was the Tide Superbird.

We've talked to the previous owner who had done the restoration back in the late 80's/early 90's, ....that when he sold to Dub, he was told the same thing.

Turns out, Dub also had the Romeo From Supergo ...Superbird as well. Which is a true story. So just trying to find out if anyone had heard of it before.

Jerry Hall may know more as an Alabama guy??
First I have heard of PG or Tide having a promotional car. I did know of a Superbird that was known here as the Tru-Turn Fish Hook car.

I remember DieHard batteries had either a Superbird /Daytona in a commercial. Had a wild paint job.
Kids Dad comes in and asks to borrow his car, then shows him lurching down the road.

Jerry, could you elaborate more on this?

@moparedtn: I had no idea of it until about 15 years ago, when I met Dub Clenny, out of Mt. Ida, Arkansas. He had the story on it and I remember the lingo of Romeo from Super Go, and it turned out to be a neat story.

Quite the character and car collector, Dub was. At the time I met him, he had 4 Superbirds, a 67 Hemi GTX (which my dad bought), and many other kinds of cars, classics, and nascar's.

All the Birds were sold off, and my buddy has 1 of them that is nearly finished. Yellow, automatic, column shift. Numbers matching.

That car was in Montgomery Alabama from the mid 70's until some time into the 80's. The best I remember it was the lime green color with fishing lures painted all over it. It may have been repainted completely because I remember it being lighter. I remember it sitting in the front yard of a house on Federal Dr. which is now called Congress Dickerson's Dr. in Montgomery. The closest I ever got to it was probably about 75 feet as I drove by. This was a route I used sometime on my way home from work. I had no interest in it the way it was painted, but I did look for Superbirds in the 70's & 80's and found about 4 for sale which I looked at. They were all priced between $12 & $17 hundred dollars, but it might as well have been 100K as there was no way I had that kind of money for a second car. Hind sight being 20-20 I should have borrowed the money for one or more.

A little off track, but in my home town there was this car that everybody knew about called the Harlow Tire Daytona. We would drive out of our way going somewhere just to drive by and see it. It’s was there for decades and then suddenly disappeared. It surfaced just recently and was sold sometime after the store changed hands or closed. Interesting fact is that there was also a 69 1/2 Trans Am with the Ram Air V sitting right across the street! Ahh, those were the days!
