OK,

I give up. I have paid to have this done twice, to two different individuals to set up this new rear end. Same results both times.
Sounds like marbles rolling around in a barrell during deceleration. Really is it that difficult???!
Any help would be appreciated.

If its so easy then set it up your self........don't bad mouth what you cant do your self

Can you post some pics of the rear without the cover and possibly a shot or 2 of the ring gear pattern? That will help.

Thanks.
It will take me a day or two to get it drained, etc

He didn't say it was easy, he said it shouldn't be that difficult. AND it's not for any good shop to do. If you have nothing to add to a conversation keep your caustic attitude to yourself. Have a nice day. SMH

Guess those pics aren’t coming......asked for them back in November to help diagnose what your problem is.

Sorry I didn't get you the pictures.
Since November iit has been a busy time for me.
I had another professional removal/installation, added shims to the pinion with the same results. Still does the same thing. Has a normal wear pattern and no visual indications of anything abnormal.

It might be the nature of the sure grip unit itself, I have heard from a few people that new sure grips sometimes start out noisy.
The more miles you put on it should diminish the noise.

Just love the hate.....not....

You're not running the 'E' locker are you?

"Sounds like marbles rolling around in a barrel during deceleration"
That doesn't sound like a gear contact issue. gear contact issues are usually described as a whine. A whine on deceleration can be caused by improper pinion preload.
Is this rear-end new to your car, did you just do 8 3/4 to Dana swap?

Whine on decel can be the pinion is set too deep but suppose improper pinion preload too. Have never experienced that though.....

I had a good friend who ran his own one-man rear end shop. He told me that once a set of r&p gears are noisy, whether thru wear, or improper initial setup, they will be noisy forever, no matter how good the next attempt at setup.
I'm not so sure the noise described by the op is r&p tho. I would start looking other places. U-joints, axle bearings, limited slip additive, trans mount, bent snubber hitting the driveshaft?

The "quick service" guys at the dealer I worked at would foul up the preload when replacing pinion seals all the time. They would sing on decel at first, then self destruct.
In Dec of 2012 I set up about 50 rear diffs (mostly10.5s) due to a recall and quick service **** ups. Best month ever, warranty paid over 5.0 hours.
