I'm getting ready to recover a pair of front bucket seats I picked up at a swap meet....seats from a 72 or 73 Charger......

But, after looking at Legendary's catalog, I like the covers for the 71 Challenger better than the current pattern.....

My question is: Are the seat FRAMES the same, or will the swap not work? Any experience with this? Thanks.

The frames are the same, the tracks are different. I had a pile of five trashed seats from three different cars. ‘70 cuda, ‘70 Coronet, and ‘72 charger. Other then the tracks all were identical. I mixed and matched parts from all five seats to make two good ones.

The foam is different generally but now I think you can buy just the foam as well. I have a pair of 70 E body (Challenger) seats I am going to redo for my 70 RR.

Yup, the foam, vinyl and tracks are different, but the frames are identical. Different from side to side because of the release buttons but even that can be fixed if you can weld.
Even the springs are the same.

That's good to know. Yeah, I was already planning on getting the foam also. So I just need make sure I get the 71 Chally foam along with the 71 Chally covers. Good deal.

Be sure to keep track of how it all goes together. Not sure if you’ve done seats before but it’s not as simple as putting the foam on and then stuffing the covers on. My Coronet had listing wires hog ringed through the foam to the springs, burlap over every thing, and also muslin glued over the seams where the foam meets the frame. Take pictures as you take them apart or you may end up like me scratching your head at some point.

Agreed. I was watching some of Legendary's videos on YouTube, and there's a lot involved - listing wires, gluing the back of the head rest on, hog rings, etc. Yeah, I learned long ago - take lots of pictures before attacking any part of a rebuild. YouTube and this forum have been invaluable resources for a first-time rebuilder like myself. Thanks for the tips, Way North!

Hey, I was showing my wife your Polar bear-shaped license plates, and she wants to know how cold it gets there in the Winter, and how warm in the Summer. She wants to move somewhere cooler, but I ain't havin' it. :screwy:

It’s nice here in the summer, in fact it gets very hot and dry. Daylight around the clock. So May to late September are nice. April is slushy. October is usually cold and damp. There’s snow from Halloween until May. December January and February can be very cold. I’ve seen minus fifty three once, minus forty quite a bit but generally it’s in the minus twenties. It’s not the cold that’s bad, it’s the darkness. Doesn’t affect everyone but many people including me are depressed by the darkness. It’s a dry cold so you can dress for it easily.
There’s many great things about here. There are no people. My town is the third largest at 3,500. Our capital only has around twenty thousand. You can travel on our main highway for over an hour without passing another vehicle.
There’s lots of money to be made here. If you have a trade or desirable skill you can get rich working for wages. Granted, it’s expensive to live here but our health care is free and amazing despite what people who have never been here say. Taxes are slightly lower but comparable to the U.S. It’s clean here. No litter, clean air. People are nice, I think similar to small town America. It’s pretty laid back.
I’m happy to talk about this place, as you can tell. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Man, that's a bit chilly! Think I'll stay in tropical Ohio.:D Even if we don't see the sun very often, at least we know it's up there somewhere behind the clouds. It does sound peaceful up there though.
