Anybody ever make one of the websites, like WIX ? How was it to work on?

I have my own site.. Not built on a free platform however its 2.99 a year for the domain name and 7.77 a month for hosting.. But they hosting service has built in CMS solutions.. CMS = content management systems.. Those are pretty easy to install and maintain. You can check out the link in my sig down below. It needs work but honestly I never really update or mess with it..

Geez ! Thats cheap ! I had my site built. I pay almost $40 a year for the domain name, and $25 a month for ( do nothing) hosting.

I use Xisto.com they pretty much locked me into the price I paid 5 years ago. lol Domain name through godaddy.com

I have a site I pay monthly for , for the shop. I have a very small side project, looking for the cheap. Someone elsewhere said beware of tons of pop-ups. Hence my question about WIX.... see commercials for it often

On a side note this thread caused me to update my site a littlebit. So if you want to check it out feel free link is below. My site says not secure but dont worry I dont have or plan to sell or buy anything from the site.. Its just some certificate issue with my host.

I can put up as many sub domains as I like on my host.. and could let anyone have a site... Although the site would be something like this URL. www.ballisticpc.com/freesiteforsomeone So If you chose to use lets say Roadrunner as your site name it would be like this www.ballisticpc.com/roadrunner I actually installed a CMS at the ballisticpc.com/roadrunner address so anyone can check it out. Its easy to install a quick website.

I have several websites (cars, backpacking and photography) and a few I maintain for others (my father and our church) and I pay for hosting and domain through icdsoft.com. All of my websites use WordPress.

Be careful and make sure you use Wordpress security features.. I use Wordfence seems to keep the attacks at bay. My webhost said Wordpress is one of the most attacked CMS softwares out there. Its cool to use you just have to be smart about protecting your site.

I use the 'iThemes Securty' plugin. Haven't had an issue since I started using it. Did get hacked years ago on one of my sites BEFORE I started using it.
