so im about done adding power steering fluid .. my gear box i think is done.. i replaced the lower seal and now it don't leak until i park it then it seems to pool up on top of gear box and then pukes on the ground... steering has a lot of play in it.. i have checked the hockey puck and it seems to be fine.... so i think my 47 old gear box is just done... i cant afford firm feel or steer and gear so what are my other options as far as like rock auto, Oreilly, Napa? anyone ever purchased those? are they any good for a weekend driver? its not a daily.. i just want something that don't leak and work as it should... 1973 dodge charger 2 door hard top wit ha 318.. not even sure what brand factory box is or numbers on it to make sure i get a correct replacement

Find a local rebiulder, i found a shop a few miles away from me, they rebuilt a old leaking and sloppy Ford box for $75 and it was perfect.

i called local shops and none will touch it because its a Mopar box... i would love to just be able to rebuild mine locally... i even thought of trying to do it myself, but there is parts that may need to be machined and i dont have that kind of access

Might try and find someone parting a car? It can be a crap shoot, but look for a box that is relatively dry and go for it.

When I had to remove the lines to do some other work I encountered some fluid pooling after it was parked awhile and it was my HP fitting that wasn't torqued tight enough. My hassle was the fitting so close to the header making that a trick to torque it. Maybe you've done this already, make sure your line connections are not the culprit. As you say you have play in the steering, did this get worse after you worked on the box? You can make 'some' adjustment with the worm gear lash but there's a line here; over tight and you lose wheel return action. A little adj though might give you a bit less slop.

U can pick one up at Rockauto for about $150.00 bucks

Or place a WTB add here, some people convert to manual or borgeson.
The steering gear is the same for many many of these cars.
