Let's See Your Factory 3-Speed Manual '71-'74's!

My first mopar was a 71 RR 383 3spd.tor red with 28k on it bought for $1500 in 79,car would burn rubber for blocks in first gear, I put an 18 spline 4spd.in {paid $100} & left the 3spd on the side of the gas station I worked at & the junk man took it,little did know the 383 only 3spd. trans is the HD version of the a230s,they have the larger input shaft bearing like the HEMI/440 a883s & the duel shifter mounting locations,my friend owns the car & put a 727 in,Im collecting up all the specific 3spd parts & am going to trade him for the 18spline.

PS looking for 3spd parts.
Do you have the shifter? I have the shifter, less arm that slides in, that I can let go for peanuts. Pic above

Ceedawg this is the first time Im seeing that style shifter your showing,I know the shifter in my 71 was an Inland with 3 bolts, the one u have may be a later year Hurst version with the slip in handle 73/74 ?

Not sure, my 69 book shows one like that I have with a round handle, my buddy’s 70 Bee had the pistol grip 3 speed and the body looks like what I have. Don’t know.? I’m using a 70 pistol grip in my 66 (non console 4 speed) and the body looks the same. ??? I have a 72 Duster with the big 3-speed that uses the inland type shifter (floor)

I don't think they made a pistol grip 3 speed car from the factory

He said round shifter with a ball, console type.

After 25 posts here I am still waiting patiently to see a foto of the gear shift with "ball" showing the gear pattern on the knob.

Remember when my brother and I had '67 GTO's at the same time, he had a post body with 3 manual and nothing on, it zero options. Mine was a drop top with every option on it w/the Hurst dual gate. He was for all da speed and beat my ride as you'd expect; but what a beast it was to drive compared to mine. He had traded in his '65 goat 4 speed for it and just recall it was just kinda strange with it having the 3 gear. Holy chit...don't recall the gearing it had, but it was crazy off the line keeping that beast under control!

Finally and long last, the real deal, thank you barnfind, was beginning to think a 3 speed manual Road Runner was only a fantasy!

Wow first time seeing a bench seat & 3spd,looks like the A body shifter handle or a B body only virsion, going to have too look that one up.

Here is an interior pic from my '71 Charger 3-speed. Notice where the shift is...

My 74 Runner (originally my grandfathers) factory 318 3-speed car currently has a 360 and 4 speed. The original engine and trans are sitting in the garage.

I know that a 3 speed floor shifter, with black ball was stock in a 72 Roadrunner. Only saw one so far. Did see a 3 speed floor shifter in a console in a 73 charger.

I saw i think a 71 or 72 charger with a slant 6 and 3 speed on the tree. Talk about rare.

I’m gonna guess (since I have no data to back it up) that a 318/3 on the tree (which is what my Charger is) would be even more rare. If a buyer were to pony up the dough on a base Charger for the 318 option, you’d think a few bucks more for a floor shift would be a no brainer (except for my Dad who was the original buyer of my Charger!) Notice every other 3-speed mentioned in this post with a V-8 is a floor shift.
