Hello everyone is there anybody out there that have done this what has to be done thanks

Picked up a car in Ontario and brought it over the Peace Bridge on an open trailer. Customs didn't even ask a question about it. Thats what a phone call to customs said. No paperwork needed. I would call first just to be sure.

FYI, travel to Canada to prohibited right now.

I would not be picking it myself I am thinking about hiring a transport co

I think what might be more important, is what is needed at your states motor vehicle department to register it. I do not believe getting in this country from theirs is that difficult. I would check there first. BUT? Are you going to license or is it for parts?

You guys have it lucky... buy it, load it and go with the ownership signed and a bill of sale. The other way around we have to have a signed title, bill of sale, forms filled out.. 72 hours notice has to be given to US customs that we're hauling a car out to Canada. We have to stop at US customs on the haul out (which isn't easy at most border crossings) and then stop at Canadian Customs to pay the import GST on value. Only ONE broker is allowed to do your paperwork, on your behalf, for US customs.. you can't do it yourself.. etc.. etc.. why we keep restoring rust buckets up here, just too much work to "go fetch".

I forgot to ask are there any fees involved taxes etc again thanks

4 years ago i paid about 600 in fees, taxes and licensing. The issues i had was getting the importer to send the correct forms or properly completed forms for registration and title in TX. We finally found a caring DMV employee that helped since the importer didn't.

in the past if a vehicle was manufactured in the US it could return duty free , same went for machinery and heavy equipment , dont know if this has changed .

I found a 58 Fargo Sweptside for a good friend in Oklahoma, i registered it in my name, signed off the registration to him. He didn’t have a problem going home with it.
We had to add an extra leaf to his mid 70`s Chrysler Newport so his bumper wasn’t scraping the pavement. It was an extremely rare truck with the options it had.
When I found it, I was tempted to keep it, but he had supplied me with some parts after we hit a deer while on the way to the 30th anniversary of the Charger in Bloomington Illinois.

In my experience most cars in Canada are rust bucket's unless it's a garage queen that was no expenses spared kind of car !

Make sure the ebrake works and it runs. . Most transport companies wont pick up unless these are in place.

I disagree, in my humble opinion, it depends what province/ territory you are from. I have seen pictures of cars being restored that I couldn’t believe that are being done. Where and when was the car parked. Have friends in Texas and other States you would think would be minimal rust free areas. They said No, depends on where in the state.

All I know is with the dollar conversion right now you guys (Americans) can clean up and buy all our cars!

Oh yeah I know there's places in the us I won't touch cars from ever again too!
But some did have pampered lives
For instance I own a 1938 caddy it has all but 26k miles on it and i got it from the org family it was driven but the lady's driver for 2 years then parked ,her family said she wouldn't sell because it made her look poor or something insane like that !
It has no rust on it at all !
