Was wondering how you came to a value on you car and did you have to get it appraised? I have then for my DD and I think Hagerty is charging me to much for the Bee. Thinking it would be cheaper with one insurance company. Thanks Dave

I've had State Farm as my daily driver and home insurance for 40 years. I requested an estimate a few years ago for my 70 GTX.
Even with multi car and multi policies, they wanted a fortune compared to Condon and Skelly which I had at the time, and still do.

Hagerty has been good for me most competitive to my state farm who I like as well. Unlimited towing is great too.

I had Condan and Skelly too. Good company with a reasonable price. I just used market value to come up with the value. A later estimate confirmed what I had it insured for.

I have state farm. Had my car appraised and they constantly wanted updated every year. I switched to Hagerty with multiple cars and the rate isn't that bad. I was paying same rate at state farm and now I'm not getting harassed about the value of the car.

I still have State Farm for my old cars. They will allow agreed value without an appraisal, but their adjusters will refuse if you put the value higher than they think is acceptable. I plan on switching to Hagerty partly because it looks like it will be alot cheaper and partly because State Farm won't let me raise the value on my 68 Charger to where I think it should be because I don't have the interior and glass in it yet after the restoration. I was planning on raising the value again after the interior and glass is in.

Have SF since '85 and a few years ago I asked about raising the coverage on the Charger. Before that they let me determine insured value within a realistic amount. Now they won't raise the insured amount without a professional appraisal.

I have state farm. They did an appraisal on site and took a ton of pictures. Took about 3 days for them to get the paperwork. Agreed value is $40k. Got our vehicles and homeowners with them. Rate is $125 for 6 months on the roadrunner.

I have had my house and cars with State Farm for many moons. My agent recommended I go with Hagerty on the classics.

I have been with State Farm since I got married in 1979. Their rates for older cars is ridiculous. Have 5 cars and my house with State Farm. My Superbird insured elsewhere.

We've had State Farm for all of our vehicles, house, and an umbrella policy for years. When we bought our Satellite, our agent came out and took a few pictures and ran it through their "collector car" division - agreeing to the value I wanted on it. About a month later I received a letter that they had decided the car was only worth $9,000. I was on the phone and insured by Hagerty withing 15 minutes of reading that letter. No fuss, no muss. I wouldn't even bother checking with State Farm again for a classic car. They clearly don't know what they're looking at.

I have had State Farm for years on farm, cars, business. I don't think I ever had a claim on a classic car,, they just got to high priced on everything. I changed to Farm Bureau, and have had a terrible time with a claim. I was supposed to have agreed value and found out I didn't. Even though I was paying a premium based on a $20,000 value, when it came to a claim they said my car was totaled out And wouldn't pay the hail damage claim... I had to prove the cars worth... I am changing companies this Spring....................MO

64 Bel, they did exactly the same thing to me. Not only did they lower the coverage, but they did it without telling me and just sent a refund of the difference between the cost of what they originally said they would provide and what they dropped it to. No explanation was included with the check. When I called and asked about the check they just said one of my policy rates must have dropped, not that they reduced my coverage. I didn't know they did this until I got the renewal so I spent 5 of the 6 months insured for almost 1/2 of what I thought my coverage was. Needless to say, I switched back to Hagerty as well. When I did that, State Farm doubled the price on my umbrella policy because I didn't have all my vehicles insured with them. Needless to say I switched all my insurance to someone else. So much for 40 years of loyalty. Not an ethical company in my opinion.

I have a friend who is a SF agent.
He keeps trying to get my business and I keep saying if he was with another company (depending on the company) he would get my business.
Other friends are insured through him and are always having to get him to fix things the company changes without notice.

Wow that’s one of the worst horror stories I’ve heard about them. Good to know. I wouldn’t use them if the policy was free.

I have State Farm for the house, daily drivers and trailers. I have Hagerty for the Belvedere and prior to that it was insured through Grundy. I find that Hagerty costs a little more than Grundy but I had an issue with Grundy (not claim related) that convinced me to switch.
