Selling my 68 Road Runner and need help finding another

Hi fratzzog lover, really want a 4speed. I contacted MAXmotive about the red Road Runner. Had trouble getting answers to my questions. The ones they did answer were no numbers on the radiator support, rust/bubbles on both doors. Not the original engine and trans, which is not a problem except $38,000 is what I would expect to pay for one with numbers matching. Thanks

I think your story of owning it all those years is much more compelling than his story of buying it new and selling it three years later. How many cars did he buy over the years if he sold that one in three years. All he wants is a story to brag on. You've made a real story with the car that would make any family proud. Not only that, it's the car you dated your wife in? KEEP IT
Hey Waxrat, he and I worked together in 1973, he had it five years at that point and was only selling it because his wife was pregnant, and also she could not drive a 4speed. We traded cars, my 67 Ford Galaxy 390 auto and $300.00. Since he bought it new it was the car he had when they dated as well. At that time is was very common to sell your prized possession when starting a new family. My wife and I decided not to have children so my story stops here.
Thanks

Great story but you should start a wanted, sale, or trade thread in the Classified forums. It's in the rules.
Thanks toolmanmike, sorry, I am new to the forum and will move my request to the Classified forum.
Thanks, Robert

Hello all, I posted this on another forum as well. If I can find another 68 Road Runner I am going to sell mine back to the original owner whom I bought it off of 46 years ago. I told him I would sell it to him if I can find another. Has to be a 1968 that is a 4 speed and came that way. While mine is an RM23 and is all original and numbers matching that is not necessary. Would like one that has been restored even if it was years ago. Just something nice, not a trailer queen. I am in the Philadelphia area but would be willing to travel if it's not too far. I have been checking ebay, youtube, facebook marketplace and Hemmings. Found a couple on Craigslist but turned out to be scams. If you know of one for sale or where else to look please let me know. Thank you, Robert
Well, are you going to make some big bones on the deal? This would be an easy decision for me if I owned the car for 46 years and the original owner only had it for 3. Took me just one time to sell a car to a 'friend' that was committed to keeping it for ever. "That's a keeper" he said to me and what he did was put a paint job on it and a new cheap top (rag top car) and flipped it. Nope, never again unless I just don't care about the car I'm selling. In this case, you must care for the car or you wouldn't have kept it this long but if you're looking for a car that's not numbers matching so you won't feel guilty about doing mods to it, then go for it.

Thanks 73HEMI_RR_GTX, I tried that site back in Jan. before posting here, emailed and called every non Hemi 68 4speed Road Runner listed numerous times, and have yet to get a reply. I don't think they update when the cars are no loner available.

This is indeed a noble journey. If the guy I bought my GTX from 48 years ago showed up I could only sell if I was ready to sell. I consider it my car not his. The guy only owned it for 3 years. Your generous offer is amazing. I wish you all the luck in finding a 68 bird! Didn’t realize they were that rare for sale...
Hi GetX'd, not sure if they are rare or just not for sale. To give you an idea, there was one at a classic car dealer. All my questions were answered then they told me there was a deposit on it. A week later it was still listed, I called and asked what was going on, they said sale was pending waiting on financing. A week after that it was still listed, so I called again, now buyer was waiting on the inspection report. I asked them to call me if he deal fell through. That's when they told me there were others in front of me. They said there was a waiting list of 22 and I was number 7. Number 6 bought the car. Just my luck!
