Rear sway bar fitment question

yes

all they way up to 79 Magnums and Cordobas interchange.

The bars are slightly different in the center bend area (IIRC 71 is straight) but it doesn't make a difference.

I never knew that. Thank you!

72 bar will make a direct fit on 71, but not 73 and lates.

bar and frame rail bracket itself yes, but not the plate between spring and axle due the isolation added on 73 and lates

while this is a 72 setup will fit straight onto a 71 spring

this is a 73 and lates assembly

which with the isolation clamp

makes a diff plate ( some are with round holes for U bolts )

index.php

molded to fit on top of the isolation clamp

however on the rest of parts, will interchange... including bar itself... This diagram is to 73 and lates but a 72 diagram will show the same just a flat plate on the diagram, instead stepped

Nacho is correct, but you can weld a washer in the big hole and make the 73 and up mount plate work on 71/72.

That might not even be necessary due to the clamping force of the spring pack assembly.

Sweet - but isn't the 71 sway bar go above the rear end housing and the 72 sway bar go below the rear?
I prefer the one that goes below the rear as it would not interfere with tailpipes.....:canada:

pre 72s B bodies didn't get sway bar ever so there is no rear sway bar going above the axle in any B body ( maybe some aftermarket, but not originals ). I know E bodies got rear sway bars shaped to go above the 3rd member, but dunno when was the first year for these. Anyway, The one you need is 72 B body and will be a plug and play job.

the big washer to fill the hole from 73 and lates plate is an option too since they are "easier" to find

Hmmmm, no interference

Thanks to Nacho for all of the info.
My old high school buddy says he has one from a 72 Charger, so I may take him up on the offer.
Thanks rrTor-Red for posting that pic. I assumed that there would be no room for tailpipes.....you proved me wrong!

Whatever your preference is Beeper. Me, I like it above just in case I decide to do a "Dukes" jump....

Is the 72 bar straight in the middle? My came with one but it was missing when I got it.

Some laters with 9 1/4” diff got one with a small bend in the middle. I installed one of those on my car ( althought with 8 3/4” ) because got it NOS locally.
