I just made a deal on a part and it can be shipped in a small flat rate box for $8. The guy says his Post Office charges $4 for the box? It is not killing the deal in anyway and I am not complaining but I have never heard of it ever. All Post offices around here and in other states around here I never had to pay for a flat rate box even in USVI St. John they were free as when My wife and I go down we shipped some stuff ahead of time. I have never paid for a Flat Rate box. How about others in the US?

The guy is wrong. The USPS does not charge for their boxes. But they also Sell other boxes and he might have got them mixed up. Don't know how but ???

I told him the person behind the counter is pocketing his money..

Or he wants a couple more bucks out of you, handling fee.

Or he's in Canada where nothing is free, but then again they'd never sell us a box as cheap as 4 bucks either..

No he is in the states. I think he is confused with what a flat rate box is and what a Priority mail box is...

I don't know how it's written up on the Post Office receipt, but a small flat rate box costs $8.30 when you ship it at the counter. Boxes are free until you use them.

His Post Office could very well be a UPS store or other such store that charges for every thing. USPS boxes are free. I order mine online and they are delivered free.

We have USPS boxes sent free to the shop/ Just got in 50 more. You pay when you mail

Yeah, the flat rate boxes are free.I take 10 or more when I go to the post office.Never got a second look.
