Stripes or Not

To tag onto this same thread, I have similar dilemma except I know I want the stripe. My stumbling block is what color? Phoenix graphics is sending me a color chart now from a light grey to a black to choose from, they will do custom colors. My first choice is the white but thinking along the lines of a "Ghost strip" concept also. I am sure I can get opinions from the group, let me have em please!

If you’re leaning towards white maybe a light gray ‘ghost’ stripe would be the ticket. I think it would look great with your setup.

Along the lines of customizing the stripe. A stripe that looks normal white in day light and glow white in the dark would be cool. It would have to be a normal looking white in the day. For it to be nice.

Stripes the charger but black and i would put the rt one,the vinyl top and stripe complete the contrast. The bee black or red, burgundy definitely love superbee with stripes. If you can't tell stripes are my favorite look.

Lots great ideas and viewpoints here, will have to explore all those options. Thanks Gents!

Again, as above, it's YOUR car, do what YOU want. I generally prefer white or silver stripes, but if your car was mine.... I'd put on a black stripe, to match the wheels and top.

That color... I would go with a dark red, silver, or dark charcoal...

Nice ride. But I wouldn’t go with white if she were mine. I’d go with black or at least a darker grey color if you’re thinking of ghosting it.

I still remember the comment made by one of the car magazine guys when Dodge came out with the bumblebee stripe in 1968. He said that the Dodge cars are so fast they almost got by the guy who puts the stripes on! So I used to say then those Camaro's with the stripes on the noses were so slow that they almost didn't get to the guy who puts the stripes on! Lol

Well I got the color samples from Phoenix Graphics and there were only two shades sent to me, not much color variation to pick from. The shades were mostly silver light and dark and they blended but were TOO much "ghost" for my taste. Ordered the white as originally decided and will be attempting to put them on once all windows are in and I can wash her down good. The car has three years of dust, both lawn and grinding on top of her and it will be a delicate process to get that off without marring the clear coat. I plan to get pictures once I get it on and will post to get further opinions from the FBBO family....thanks for your opinions and help gents!

Anyone have pointers on installing these? Did you just use water or a mix with soap?

Hope you got a new and revised set from PG. Make darn sure your Bee is sitting level and the circle is high enough to clear the reflector housing. I learned the hard way and ended up tearing mine off. Went with Performance Car Graphics the second time around and theirs is perfect.

Thanks DadsBee and Hunt2Elk, I got my stripe in today and can't wait to get it on! I will definitely be watching the video you did DadsBee....and BTW your Bee with that B5 is gorgeous! I had a 68 Bee, B5 with 4 speed in HS and wanted another ever since. Wish me luck, I get my smoked grey glass in this afternoon, windshield and back glass.

Thanks Ron.. it's a tad darker than B5, it's House of Kolors solvent based HOK403. 4 coats of Blue, a Klear, interfaced and then two more coats of Klear.

BEE sure to check that strip you got from PG though, as Joel points out his Bee's were clocked about 5 degrees wronga and too low on the stripes.
