Yesterday I came upon a pic of the Numbers on the Engine block for our car. Besides the date of 3-4-66 (I assume that is the date it was cast?), do the other numbers mean anything? Thanks in advance, B.

Jim,
Interesting, found it, I think. Looks like it was a 2658930. Then I think it is a 6 following, but on the list with the link you provided (Thanks), it says this casting was for 65? But, the Casting Date is clearly 3-4-66, it seams?? Riddle? B.

OK, so I went down and got the numbers with the engine/trans/diff in the car. One can read them a bit better, I think. Here are the three pics.

Top one is the Engine Number. It is 2658930 and then the end number looks to be a 3. The middle pic is the Trans Case and the bottom pic is the Diff 3rd Member. Anything to learn here by chance?

Best, B.

You can tell more, with the numbers and letters stamped on the passenger side front deck surface, in front of the head.

OK, so thanks to Jim, found the Difff Number. It is the smaller 8.75 which ended with a 741. It still seems to me to be a heavy dude and looked as heavy as a Nine Inch I worked with in a Mustang?. Haven't figure out the Trans number yet. B.

The engine cast number is the part number. The -3 or -6 is a mold number or version.

Thanks for posting this sassy. I am wondering this with our Charger too, can anyone help me figure it out? Mr. @Charger Dana perhaps, since I believe you are following my build? :poke:

Probably 98% of FBBO knows more than I do, but I’d be happy to help with what I do know. Start with your VIN/fender tag, and any other casting numbers you’re looking for. There are a lot of resources on line, but finding and sifting can be tricky!

@chargerhi-po: what are you looking for?

The -3 or -6 generally denotes how many times thr mold has been used. The 41 case is no slouch but the downside to it is the lack of a full range of gear ratios....new gears for rebuilding that is.
