727 rear rod

Just a question? Are you looking for the shift rod or the kick down linkage so we are on the same page I can't remember on that 727 which is which by location

I need the piece that connects from shifter to transmission which seems to be the lower rod labeled as 21-30-418.
Which seems to look like the part I have.

Problem is it just doesn't seem to fit right. Maybe I should just remove that rubber bushing piece. At least then I'd probably be able to set a pin through the end that connects to the trans.

I noticed your trans does not have this bushing piece and I don't know why mine does

Charger is a code W and the part numbers are in the second photo. Lower linkage w/console would be #3467 727

Looks like it comes in from the bottom then a washer and then the clip.

... and wow... 75 bucks for a used piece?
I bought this brand new from a mopar place in southern Wisconsin... tried to find my email on it because I could not recall the name of the place.
But, I know the guy who told me about it if I need it.

Thank you very much Builderguy. That was a huge help

Well, that wasn't what I was expecting.
the rubber bushing came out easily enough but now the end of this rod has a lot of play where I'd need multiple washers on both ends because even the rod itself now slides into the hole.

That plastic grommet requires a male half which has a knob on the end to SNAP into the plastic retainer. Later models used such connections. You have a miss match of those two parts-year wise.

The lever on your trans is incorrect. That lever with that bushing is for a column shift 74 and up application that used that hard rubber/plastic bushing and a rod with a slot to snap into it like 493 mentioned. 74 console shift automatic used a different lever. If you need one PM me i have correct used one available

Okay, I have no idea how that could have happened. Although, I did not pull the motor and trans. And this motor is not year correct to car. Maybe this drivetrain was dropped into place and never really complete?
Course, it is also making sense now that this lower rod is the one piece I cannot find and had to order this new piece

I hope this lever is easy enough to remove mounted under the car?

pm sent
