My apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong place. Mods, please take the appropriate action if I am....

I suspect Mercy0002 to be part of a scam.

I have a WTB posting here on this site for some rear body moving wheels and I have the identical posting listed on the For E Bodies Only site. I was PM'd by Mercy0002 on the E Bodies site but want to get the word out here as well.

This person contacted me just to provide me with an email address to a second person [allegedly in Montana] who was selling parts I posted on E Bodies that I was interested in finding. Mercy0002 never replied back to the PM I sent to them and Mercy0002 has no other activity on the E Bodies site. Zero.

I did email the Montana person, and he wanted me to send a Money Order for the parts to yet a third party [a female] living in a Montana town. I was given her mailing address. [First red flag].

This person's emails were mostly 'normal', but he used the word 'mate' once too often and more importantly, he ignored specific questions I asked him. [Second red flag.]

I really grew suspicious and thought I was being scammed when the person emailing me said they couldn't do a PayPal transaction. I did a GOOGLE search in the Montana town for both the female and the male I was emailing with and couldn't find any record of any kind for either of them. [Third and final red flag.]

I broke off email communication and did not send anyone any money.

How much were they asking for ? I always ask for photos. Anything I'm selling I send loads of photos.

I got a similar PM on a wanted ad. Not sure the member name he used but 0 posts and 0 feedback. He wanted me to e-mail someone else. I figured it was probably a scam, so I ignored it. Next day the PM was gone, so the moderators must have gotten rid of him.

They were asking for $225.00.

I agree that I send loads of pics when I'm selling too, and I ask for pics when buying if they aren't already provided. I never got to the pics stage in this case because the little voice in my head was telling me to run when the person I was emailing [not a member of this site or any site that I'm aware of] ignored my specific questions and used the word 'mate' while addressing me one too many times. [No disrespect intended to our British, Australian, and New Zealand members.]

I've been to Montana about 6 times and loved the people and the scenery there each time. But I've never had someone address me as 'mate' when I've been out there. :wtf:

I had the same situation on the Ford Forum. -- I had parts for sale, and a person wanted Me to respond to a 3rd person via email. -- I ignored it, and notified a Moderator.

Ask for specifically where the parts are located and then say "I have someone that lives close to you and they will come by and buy them". You can find someone on here that would help you.
