Unfortunately, our beloved rides fold up pretty good, too. Roll-overs are especially
scary in these 60's cars.

sheet metal over wood framing doesn't give a lot of strength.
 
Remember the steering wheel in my '67 GTO said "energy absorbing" evidently collapsible steering column so it wouldn't impale the driver in a crash, I doubt that is a feature in my '63 Plymouth...
