Not Mine 68 440 Magnum Short Block $1500 NJ

Wow, that block was cast 6 days after my 440HP block and assembled 6 days before mine was...

I asked him for the vin # on bellhousing area and he said there was none.

You should have for the numbers on the lower right corner like this !

I don't recall ever seeing the HP stamped in line with the 440, typically it is stamped in the row with the engine assembly date.... First photo is the block in question, second photo is what I consider typical..

This is mine. Not sure what the difference is between the HP and HP2.
Interesting part was even though it has the sideways A denoting a factory .020" overbore it still retained the 4.32" standard bore when I dropped it off for machining. Either way it's 4.35" now.

The 2 means it was assembled during second shift...

My 68 D440 HP also has the 2....

Mine also has the sideways A but had been rebuilt and bored over already when we tore it down. The HP on my pad is also on the bottom.

1968 440HP was on the bellhousing area, 69 was side of block

From what I understand, no vin on back of bell housing means it is a standard 440 (350HP)
The plant # on the pan rail would confirm this. P for premium would be standard and S for special 375HP

Heard the same. What's more puzzling is that the stamping font and size looks legit.

My 68 has the HP after the date. It also has the stamping on the top of the bell housing. It is a 4 21 date.

Man, our group of 440s in this thread were all assembled within a couple weeks of each other...pretty neat. It probably was the same few people that assembled them.

Photo I posted isn't mine, I grabbed it in an image search... My engine is much earlier, my SPD is 9/11/67 I think my engine assembly date is is in July or August... I had pictures on my computer but lost them when it crashed last year...
