Nice....mine was assembled 4-17Wow, that block was cast 6 days after my 440HP block and assembled 6 days before mine was...
Not for 68. It should be on the top rear near mating surface as mentioned. I also asked seller and he couldn't find any stampings in that area.
1968 440HP was on the bellhousing area, 69 was side of block
From what I understand, no vin on back of bell housing means it is a standard 440 (350HP)1968 440HP was on the bellhousing area, 69 was side of block

Heard the same. What's more puzzling is that the stamping font and size looks legit. From what I understand, no vin on back of bell housing means it is a standard 440 (350HP)
The plant # on the pan rail would confirm this. P for premium would be standard and S for special 375HP
Photo I posted isn't mine, I grabbed it in an image search... My engine is much earlier, my SPD is 9/11/67 I think my engine assembly date is is in July or August... I had pictures on my computer but lost them when it crashed last year...Man, our group of 440s in this thread were all assembled within a couple weeks of each other...pretty neat. It probably was the same few people that assembled them.
